VG: Describe the work you make in your studio.
KG: I mainly hand-build large sculptural pieces and
vessel shapes, but I also wheel-throw and slip cast if
it's necessary for the realisation of my ideas.
VG: What is the most satisfying part of your work?
KG: I find the most satisfying thing is to bring an
idea to life.
VG: Why is clay your chosen medium?
KG: I find clay the most versatile medium to work with. You can do almost everything with it, on it,
around it, in it - the possibilities are endless.
VG: Type of clay?
KG: I mainly use Walker's PB 103 and Feeney's White Stoneware, but I also experiment with other clays
and my own concoctions.
VG: Type of glaze?
KG : I love working with Terra Sigillata, and I'm still experimenting with its possibilities. Recently I have
started exploring the colour range of a variety of earthenware glazes.
VG: Type of kiln/firing?
KG: Electric or gas, whatever gets me to temperature.
VG: List your 3 favourite things that you listen to while working.
KG: My own thoughts, my own thoughts, my own thoughts ! While I'm working on a piece, I'm usually
thinking about the construction, the surface decoration, the firing process etc. to get the best results
relating to my concept. If I'm not thinking about the piece I'm working on, then I'm thinking about the
next one.
VG: How do you identify your work?
KG: I use my signature.
VG: How do you sell your work?
KG: I'm represented in Adelaide by Peter Walker Fine Art.
