Country Conditions for <strong>Mail</strong>ing<br />

Prohibitions (130)<br />

Arms, ammunitions, and parts and accessories; all types of<br />

hunting and sporting guns, crossbows, pneumatic and<br />

fighting weapons, gas pistols, and gas bombs.<br />

Articles whose nature and packaging may constitute a danger<br />

to postal employees or that may spoil or damage other<br />

postal items.<br />

Articles with immoral inscriptions and pictures.<br />

Coins; bank notes; currency notes (paper money) except<br />

quantities sent by the National Bank of Lithuania and its<br />

institutions; securities of any kind payable to bearer;<br />

traveler’s checks; platinum, gold, and silver (manufactured<br />

or not); precious metals and precious stones, including<br />

scrap and waste from such items; jewelry; and other<br />

valuable articles are prohibited in all classes of mail,<br />

including Express <strong>Mail</strong> <strong>International</strong> shipments, that are sent<br />

to Lithuania.<br />

Explosive, <strong>com</strong>bustible, and dangerous materials.<br />

Narcotic, psychotropic, and toxic substances and equipment<br />

for using them.<br />

Nonprecious metals, their alloys, wastes, and scrap.<br />

Perishable infectious biological substances.<br />

Perishable noninfectious biological substances.<br />

Prepared foodstuffs and raw materials of animal origin if their<br />

industrial packaging is damaged, the use-by-date has<br />

expired, or the sensory features (i.e., smell, taste, and touch)<br />

have been altered.<br />

Radioactive materials.<br />

Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes, except it is<br />

permitted to send 200 cigarettes or 250 g. of tobacco, or an<br />

assortment of these products, provided the gross weight<br />

does not exceed 250 g. (8.8 ounces).<br />

Watch straps, watch bands, and watch bracelets, and parts<br />

thereof, of precious metal or of metal clad with precious<br />

metal whether or not gold-plated or silver-plated.<br />

Restrictions<br />

Articles subject to customs duty may not be sent in ordinary or<br />

registered First-Class <strong>Mail</strong> <strong>International</strong> items, including the<br />

Priority <strong>Mail</strong> <strong>International</strong> Flat Rate Envelope and Small Flat<br />

Rate Priced Boxes.<br />

Firearms (categories B, C, and D), ammunition, special<br />

surveillance and security equipment, crime-fighting<br />

instruments/equipment, and civilian pyrotechnic articles can<br />

be sent only with authorization from the Police Department<br />

of the Ministry of Home Affairs.<br />

Objects of cultural value, works of art, and antiques may be<br />

sent only with a permit from the Ministry of Culture’s<br />

Department of the Protection of Objects of Cultural Value.<br />

Radio-electronic apparatus and electrical equipment that may<br />

emit radio waves require authorization from the National<br />

Electrical Equipment and Communications Inspectorate.<br />

Sugar may not exceed 5 kg. (11 pounds) per shipment.<br />

Observations<br />

A value-added tax (VAT) will be applied to books, newspapers,<br />

and periodicals.<br />

label), postage, endorsement, and any applicable markings.<br />

The shipping label is approximately 5.5 inches high and<br />

9.5 inches long.<br />
