Destinations TO VISIT IN EAST AFRICA The East Africa region is largely the five countries of, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania. In terms of tourism, Tanzania’s Zanzibar is top notch because of its fascinating history and the incredible beaches. Its location in the Indian ocean (off the coast of Tanzania) made it a huge trading centre over time. Zanzibar is famous for its spices and having become an important slave trade post under the Arab rule. The influences of the Arab rule are obvious on the island, especially in the famous stone town - one of the island’s biggest attractions. Do you adore birds, especially flamingos? Are you animals and park friendly? Then Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya is the place for you. Lake Nakuru is famous for its huge flocks of flamingos that enjoy the alkaline waters of this shallow soda lake. Other than one million flamingos and more species of birds, the park is also home to white rhino, warthog, giraffe, hippo, ostrich and lion.
