RE: ERROR ON BCM ACCOUNT<br />

I have been phoning and e-mailing<br />

Buffalo City Municipality (BCM)<br />

billing enquiries regarding an<br />

electricity account that I received in<br />

May <strong>2017</strong> for R109 935.23 and<br />

R94 068.81 in August.<br />

We went to the Beacon Bay Branch<br />

(of BCM) in June when we received<br />

the first account and they assured us<br />

that the matter would be sorted out.<br />

I have been pushed from pillar to<br />

post and cannot find one person who<br />

can take ownership of this problem<br />

or show any interest in fixing it.<br />

I have been given numerous<br />

telephone numbers and all of them<br />

do not get answered at all. The toll<br />

No response to whopper BCM bills<br />

free number 086-111-3017 gives a<br />

message that the operators are all<br />

busy and to try again later. In<br />

addition to this error, we are being<br />

charged interest of R700 per month.<br />

If they look on the account they<br />

can see that the meter reading<br />

brought forward is nil, which was the<br />

cause of the overcharge.<br />

I am really concerned that our<br />

electricity supply gets disconnected<br />

and that they will not reconnect us<br />

<strong>GO</strong>!<br />

until a payment is made.<br />

I know of people that this<br />

has happened to and<br />

they have had to pay the<br />

incorrect amount and<br />

then submit a claim. I am<br />

not in any financial<br />

position to be able to do<br />

this.<br />

I am really hoping that<br />

this will get an urgent<br />

response from someone in the<br />

municipality that can correct this as<br />
