Kids will enjoy a series of activity stations and learn easily transferrable sports skills in a fun, relaxed environment. Meet local experts on topics such as sleep training, babywearing, post-natal recovery, and making your own baby & toddler food. Also enjoy various workshops from local storytellers, music makers & facilitated holiday crafts. Weekly activity schedule will be available online. Children are taught the fundamental skills of each sport and have the opportunity to practice and refine these skills individually and in game situations. Creative games and activities are also integrated into classes, which allow children to interact with peers while learning skills essential for sport. Baby- Wearing Latin Dance class is open to everyone. You don’t even need to know how to dance; the desire to share a special moment of music and movement with your child is all you need. Salsa is soothing for a baby, since the rocking movements bring them back to the time they spent in utero. Your baby will love being swayed while in direct contact with you! We recommend that your child be at least 6-8 weeks old. Parents must provide their own baby carrier. • Wed 1:00-1:50pm, Jan 24 – Mar 21, RFAW12 – $126 BABY-WEARING BALlET This parent and baby class is similar to regular ballet classes with barre exercises and center exercises. Special attention is given to muscle toning and stretching particular to arduous ballet training, all with your baby secured to you in your carrier. This all-new postnatal activity will whip you into shape while sharing valuable time with your baby. We recommend that your child be at least 6-8 weeks old. Parents must provide their own baby carrier. • Tue 1:00-2:00pm, Jan 23 – Mar 20, RFAW11 – $126 YOUNG REMBRANDTS: PRESCHOoL DRAWING (3 1/2-5yrs) Young Rembrandts instructors provide a fun and nurturing learning environment that concentrates on the skills of drawing and colouring while developing fine motor skills, focus, listening, patience and spatial organization. • Sun 11:00am-12:00pm, Jan 14 – Apr 8, RFAW13 – $175 TAEKWONDO Taekwondo, a Korean martial art, is the practice of hand and leg techniques for self-defense. Taught by Master Instructor Tony Ilukhor, Taekwondo will improve your physical health, focus, flexibility, and will decrease stress. TINY TIGERS (3.5-5yrs) New this session, Tiny Tigers is a program loaded with playful activities designed to capture your child’s attention. Through regular practice one learns to build a strong mind and body, and develop an ability to defend oneself in a conflict situation. Karate practice can help one develop and improve flexibility, stamina, reflexes, coordination, selfconfidence, composure, patience, discipline, punctuality, willpower, respect, and character. Taught by 4th degree black belt Hashmat Khan. Ages (5-7yrs) • Sun 9:15-10:00am, Jan 14 – Apr 8, RFAW20 – $111 Ages (8-16yrs) • Sun 10:15-11:15am, Jan 14 – Apr 8, RFAW21 – $111 LEARN TO SKATE (3-5yrs) Children will learn skating fundamentals in this six-week course. The instructor will use a variety of techniques to improve forward and backward skating, stopping, jumping and spinning. We’ll start the night off with programmed water activities and a swim in the pool between 6:30-7:30pm, then move to the program room for a healthy snack and a wide range of quieter activities designed to wind down the night and get ready for bed. Drop off is between 6:00-6:30pm, and pick up is between 8:30-9:00pm. Saturday night drop off and pick up is held in the Carling Motors room. $22. Ages 4-12. COME OUT AND ENJOY OUR OUTDOoR RINKS AT EITHER DOVERCOURT (WESTBORO), MCKELlAR PARK & WOoDROFfE RINK. You can join in a game of pickup or glide around in the crisp winter air. Our rinks are maintained by a large team of dedicated volunteers; see www.dovercourt.org/entreprise/ resources for more information. Our annual Winter Carnival features skating on the rink and puddle, sleigh rides and other fun activities. This year’s Carnival will be on Sat Jan 20, 4-7pm.
