Stronger local businesses mean more jobs. JA has actively promoted local village businesses through his Bennelong Village Business initiative. MEDICARE 87.5% of GP visits in Bennelong were bulk billed last year. The Liberal team has increased funding for hospitals, medicines and Medicare. SPORTING FACILITIES JA has helped improve local sporting facilities, with funding for: North Epping Multipurpose Community Courts Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre – starting blocks Eastwood Ryde Netball Association – display cabinets Morrison Bay Park – sports field lighting ELS Hall Park – amenities upgrade CHILD CARE Next year, around 6,200 families in Bennelong will get more support as a result of the Liberal Team’s reforms to help working parents. COMMUNITY GROUPS & FACILITIES JA has helped secure grants to help a diverse range of community groups, including: Arrunga Men’s Shed – equipment Eastwood Chinese Citizens’ Club – IT equipment Eastwood Christian Community Aid Service – mobile playgroup Epping Gospel Chapel – car park and footpath upgrade Parkinson’s NSW (North Ryde) – office upgrade Ryde Multicultural Centre – kitchen upgrade St Johns Anglican Church North Ryde – car park resurfacing St Andrews SocioJustice Environmental Education Centre – DVD studio Tzu Chi (Eastwood) – solar installation Youthsafe (Ryde) – educational equipment Eastwood Occasional Child Care Centre – community memorial garden North Epping Bowling & Community Club – children’s playground JA’s Bennelong Gardens Program provides work opportunities for people with disabilities in specially designed market gardens. Through the Bennelong Schools Table Tennis Program a number of local schools have received free tables and coaching from JA.
