Katie Kirkpatrick Xavier St John Editors - in - chief The days are getting shorter, the mornings are getting colder, the Christmas music is beginning to play… it must be time for the second issue of The Inkling! Since the release of Volume One, our editors, journalists, designers and photographers have been hard at work to produce a magazine that’s bigger, better, and more festive than the first. This issue definitely does have a holiday season theme: you’ll find a recipe for mince pies, an opinion piece about the role of religion in Christmas and even an article about turkey farming! We hope that once you finish reading this issue you’ll be fully feeling the Christmas spirit. But, of course, not everything is holiday-themed. Our journalists have delved into topics ranging from 80s films to part time jobs, so there really is something to suit anyone and everyone. We’ve also enjoyed a lot of teacherinvolvement in this volume: don’t miss our ‘Would You Rather?’ quiz with Mr Heaney, or Miss Churchman’s article about the scary prospect of head transplants. In this volume you may also notice some serials from the previous edition. We have the second chapter of Katie’s story, as well as new instalments of the Top 10 and Mr and Ms PRIDE. The SVC Events section has also been particularly busy this month - with a huge array of musical and academic events, the lead-up to the Christmas holidays is always a busy time for us all. Don’t forget that The Inkling relies on student participation. If you have something to say, we want to hear it. The more the merrier here on the Inkling team!
