County traveled to the Barre Opera<br />

House on March 8th to compete in<br />

the 20<strong>17</strong> Vermont Poetry Out<br />

to the Vermont State Poetry Out<br />

Loud Competition for the second<br />

year. These students are already<br />

champions, having won their high<br />

school’s competition and thus a<br />

spot in the State Competition.<br />

• Congratulations to the BYSA Basketball Green Team, who went<br />

undefeated this season. Members of the team are Coach Jason<br />

Tremblay, Hayden Ross, Cooper Diego, Riley Severy, Luke<br />

Davis, Dominic Pike, Coach Marcus Thornton. Front row: Gino<br />

• The 3rd Annual Vermont Sled Hockey Championships took<br />

place at Fenton Chester Arena in Lyndon, Vermont on February<br />

25th. After much spirited play, the tournament concluded with the<br />

final game pitting the Vermont Sled Cats vs. the Central Vermont<br />

Pioneers. The Central Pioneers emerged the winner with a final<br />

score of 3-1.<br />

won at the Friends of the<br />

Aldrich Library Winter<br />

Banquet. The banquet raised<br />

over $6,000 to support the vital<br />

and innovative programs at the<br />

library.<br />

• Jacob Roy of Barre Town, graduated<br />

from Parris Island Marine Corp on Friday,<br />

January 13th. Jacob is currently training<br />

at Camp Geiger, which is part of Camp<br />

Lejeune, North Carolina. Jacob is the son<br />

of Kimberly DePalmer, Barre Town and<br />

Rick Roy, Graniteville.Jacob graduated<br />

from Spaulding High School in June<br />

2016, turned 18 in July 2016, voted in<br />

2016, earned his Eagle Scout rank in<br />

October 2016, and left the next day for Parris Island in 2016.<br />
