ALEXANDER WILLIAM BANKS, 56, died Monday,<br />

Dec. 18, 20<strong>17</strong>, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in<br />

Lebanon, New Hampshire. Arrangements are pending at<br />

Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home, Chelsea.<br />

BARBARA NORMAN CAMPBELL, 76,<br />

died peacefully at the McClure Miller VNA<br />

Respite House in Colchester, surrounded by the<br />

love of her family. Barbara was born on Feb.<br />

23, 1941, in Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of<br />

Paul and Margaret (Nesmith) Norman. She<br />

graduated from Milton High School in 1959.<br />

On Feb. 19, 1959, she married John “Jack” Campbell Jr. at<br />

the Ira Allen Chapel in Burlington. Together, they raised<br />

three daughters. She worked for many years in the medical<br />

field and her passion was Miniatures. She is survived by her<br />

daughter, Cheri Campbell, of Burlington, and her children<br />

Olivia Johnston, Knight Appleton and Lissome Hall; her<br />

daughter, Colleen Catalano and her husband, Edward, of<br />

Greensboro, NC, and their daughter, Nicole Catalano; her<br />

daughter Joy’s children; her son-in-law, Timothy Connor, of<br />

Ballston Spa, NY; her great-grandchildren; her brother,<br />

Gregory Nesmith Norman and his wife, Lisa, of Alexandria,<br />

VA, her sister, Pamela March Norman, of The Villages, FL,<br />

her sister-in-law, Lucy Campbell, of Grand Isle, and their<br />

families.<br />

BRADLEY JON CHARRON, 62,<br />

of Marshfield, VT, passed away at<br />

his home on Dec. 13, 20<strong>17</strong>. He was a loving<br />

husband and father. He proudly protected citizens<br />

of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom as an<br />

assistant state fire marshal, from which he<br />

retired in May of this year. He had an excellent<br />

sense of humor and quick wit that always filled the room<br />

with laughter. Brad was born on May 28, 1955, in Barre, VT,<br />

to Bertrand and Catherine (Buley) Charron. He graduated<br />

from U-32 in 1973 and enlisted in the Army that same year.<br />

Following his military service, he wed Susan Jerome on Dec.<br />

1, 1979, and began his career with the State of Vermont to<br />

which he devoted nearly 40 years of service. Brad is survived<br />

by his wife of 38 years, Susan, and four children: Krista<br />

Wallace and her husband, Joe Wallace, and two grandsons<br />

Liam and Malcolm, of Townsend, MA; Marielle Charron<br />

and her soon-to-be husband, Paul Grenier, of Marshfield;<br />

Desiree Benjamin and her husband, Harold Benjamin III, of<br />

Columbia, MD; and Rafe Charron, of Marshfield. He is also<br />

survived by his sisters Ann Smedy, of Chelsea, Lyn Millhiser,<br />

of Raleigh, NC, and Joy French, of Rutland; and brother,<br />

William Charron, of Northfield, NH; along with several<br />

nieces and nephews.<br />

LORAINE L. CLARK, 99, formerly of The<br />

Gardens, passed away on Dec. <strong>17</strong>, 20<strong>17</strong>, at the<br />

Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin where she<br />

had been a resident for the past two years. Born<br />

in Lincoln, Rhode Island, on Aug. 9, 1918, she<br />

was the daughter of the late Eugene and Anna<br />

(Therrien) Letter. Lorraine attended schools in<br />

RI, NY, Barre and Williamstown and was a graduate of<br />

Spaulding High School, Class of 1937. Lorraine was<br />

employed as a manager and bookkeeper at Dawson-<br />

MacDonald Co. On Aug. 1, 1942, she married Robert H.<br />

Clark in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. In 1951,<br />

Lorraine began as bookkeeper for the family’s trucking business,<br />

Clark’s Transferring Service. Her main interest was<br />

playing golf, bowling, bingo, playing cards, crossword puzzles<br />

and great weekends spent with family and friends at<br />

Lake Elmore! Survivors include her son, David Clark, of<br />

Englewood, FL; her daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Rouleau<br />

and her husband, Paul, of Bonita Springs, FL, and their children.<br />

She is also survived by two great-grandsons; as well as<br />

many nieces and nephews.<br />

JOHN LARKIN COSTELLO, 85, of South<br />

Duxbury, VT, passed away on Dec. <strong>17</strong>, 20<strong>17</strong>.<br />

Born in Yonkers, NY, on May 20, 1932, he was<br />

the son of the late Joseph and Mary (McGovern)<br />

Costello. John graduated from Irvington High<br />

School in 1950 and continued his education at<br />

Norwich University, where he graduated in<br />

1954 with a bachelor’s in chemistry. On Sept. 7, 1957, he<br />

married the former Ulilla Jean Allen in Towanda, PA. They<br />

recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. Following graduation,<br />

John began his career at Phillips Labs in Tarrytown,<br />

NY. Later John was employed by Sylvania Electric Products<br />

in Towanda, PA, and Geneva, IL, and then Mallory/Duracell<br />

Battery Co. in Tarrytown, NY, for over 30 years as an application<br />

engineer. He was instrumental in developing the initial<br />

battery design for early home smoke detectors. John is<br />

survived by his wife, Ulilla “Eulie,” of South Duxbury; one<br />

daughter, Tracy Costello, of South Duxbury; four sons, John<br />

Patrick Costello and wife Audrey, of Mena, AR, Michael<br />

Costello and wife Pam, of Albuquerque, NM, Christopher<br />

Costello and wife Diana, of Moretown, and Thomas Costello<br />

and wife Corinna, of Danville. John loved spending time<br />

with his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his<br />

sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Byrnes, and his nephew, Richard<br />

Condon and family, of CT; a cousin; as well as countless<br />

friends.<br />

ROGER N. COUTURE, age 77, passed away<br />

on Dec. <strong>12</strong>, 20<strong>17</strong>, surrounded by his family at<br />

his home in North Hero, VT. He is survived by<br />

his wife, Cecile, and his son, Brian. Funeral<br />

services will be performed at the St. Amedeus<br />

Church in Alburgh.<br />

ELSIE JEAN FOLEY (NEE WEIR), 90, of<br />

South Burlington, VT, formerly of Londonderry,<br />

chose to join her late husband, Dick Foley, in<br />

Heaven on Dec. 8, 20<strong>17</strong>, at UVM Medical<br />

Center. Jean was born on Christmas Day in<br />

1926 to Charles and Lexie (nee Carr) Weir in<br />

Foxboro, MA, the oldest of six children. To<br />

those who knew her, she was indeed a gift! She grew up in<br />

Foxboro, attended nursing school in Providence, RI, and<br />

married her sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Foley, on Aug. <strong>27</strong>,<br />

1949. She is survived by brothers Walter, Albert and Paul<br />

Weir. Jean enjoyed a long career as an RN, taking care of her<br />

patients on the overnight shift. Jean was a free spirit and had<br />

a profound, positive effect on everyone she came in contact<br />

with. Jean was married to Dick Foley for 66 years. They had<br />

five children: Michael, of Cumming, GA, Jake, of Bradford,<br />

Tim, of Burlington, Rick, of Brookfield, and Jennifer, of<br />

Williston. She and Dick enjoyed their 15 “grandies” and 11<br />

great-grandies!<br />

RANDALL ALLEN GILMAN,<br />

58, of Prospect Street, passed away<br />

Dec. 15, 20<strong>17</strong>, at his home. Born on Aug. 11,<br />

1959, in Barre City, he was the son of Dale<br />

Gilman and Brenda (Orr) Wright. He attended<br />

elementary and high schools in the central<br />

Vermont area. Randall enlisted in the Vermont<br />

Army National Guard in 1979, and served active-duty for the<br />

U.S. Army where he earned an overseas service ribbon while<br />

stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1984.<br />

In 1980, he married Karen Estes, and after living overseas<br />

while Randy was in the service, the two made their home in<br />

Graniteville, raising their two daughters, Tasha and Danielle.<br />

Randall held many different positions throughout his working<br />

life but being a truck driver - whether it be a dump truck<br />

or oil delivery - was his most long-standing career. His<br />

friends and family will always remember him for his great<br />

sense of humor and the hilarious pranks and jokes he pulled<br />

on them. Survivors include his two daughters Tasha Gallup<br />

and her husband, Scott, of NH, and Danielle Gilman and her<br />

significant other, Joel Gouin, of Brownsville; four grandchildren;<br />

as well as his spouse for 23 years and the mother of his<br />

two daughters, Karen (Estes) Gilman. He also leaves his<br />

brother, Michael Gilman and his wife, Mari-Jo, of<br />

Williamstown; three sisters Tricia Maloney, of Washington,<br />

Jodie Wright and Jerry Hood, of East Barre, and Tracy<br />

Wright and her husband, Steve May, of Websterville; as well<br />

as numerous nieces and nephews. Randy also leaves behind<br />

a daughter from a relationship prior to his marriage, Jenevie<br />

Spooner, and her daughters Jessica and Maeghan, of<br />

Charlotte, NC.<br />

EDWIN O. LABBE, 92, of<br />

Richardson Road, passed away on<br />

Dec. 14, 20<strong>17</strong>, at Pines Rehabilitation and<br />

Health Center in Lyndonville. Born in Berlin,<br />

NH, on Aug. <strong>17</strong>, 1925, he was the son of the<br />

late Alphonse and Mamie (Dubay) Labbe.<br />

Edwin attended schools in Berlin, NH, and was<br />

a graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1943. After his<br />

schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the European<br />

Theater from 1943 to 1946. After his honorable discharge,<br />

he returned to Berlin. On May <strong>12</strong>, 1947, he married Doris<br />

Levesque in NH before moving to Barre, in 1966, where<br />

they made their home and raised their family. Edwin was<br />

employed as a meat cutter for various grocery stores in the<br />

Barre area, and was a meat manager at the Finest Grocery<br />

Store; his last employment was at Quality Market on<br />

Washington Street in Barre. Survivors include four daughters<br />

Ann Labbe Merrill, of Graniteville, Gloria Bilbrey, of<br />

Barre Town, Jacklyn Spence, of Derby Line, and Michelle<br />

Gingras and her husband, Brian, also of Barre; as well as<br />

eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving<br />

are four sisters and many nieces and nephews.<br />

BLANCHE ORRILLA LAMORE, age 105,<br />

formerly of Cabot, passed away at the Derby<br />

Green Nursing home in Derby, VT, on Dec. <strong>17</strong>,<br />

20<strong>17</strong>. She was born in Cabo, on May 26, 19<strong>12</strong>,<br />

to Elmer LaBree and Belle (Foster) LaBree.<br />

She attended school in Lower Cabot through<br />

sixth grade and then graduated from Cabot<br />

School in 1930. On Nov. 3, 1931, Blanche married Wilfred<br />

Willard Lamore. Upon graduation, she performed housework<br />

at Woodbury Lake and Joe’s Pond. During the<br />

Depression, employment opportunities in Cabot were scarce,<br />

so she became a trapper, an occupation she would continue<br />

for two decades. Blanche valued her independence and<br />

always preferred to keep busy; she never wanted to just sit<br />

around. In 1991, she was presented the Cabot School/<br />

Community Service award and was a WCAX Super Senior<br />

in 20<strong>12</strong>. She was quoted as saying, “You make yourself<br />

happy by helping out where you can.” When younger, she<br />

enjoyed hunting, trapping, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cribbage,<br />

including as a central Vermont cribbage champion,<br />

quilting and knitting. Blanche is survived by her son, Morris<br />

W. Lamore and his wife, Rosemarie Lamore, of Derby; two<br />

granddaughters, Renee Berthiaume and her husband, Robert<br />

Berthiaume, of Newport, Liza Lamore and her fiancé, Chad<br />

Cushman, of Irasburg,; and two great-grandchildren. She is<br />

also survived by her close friends and neighbors, Francis and<br />

Ellen Voigt, of Cabot, William Voigt, of Boise, ID, and<br />

Dudley Voigt, of St. Paul, MN; along with nieces and nephews.<br />

FLORENCE L. LECLAIR, 75, of South Barre, formerly<br />

of Merrill, NY, died Dec. 11, 20<strong>17</strong>, at the UVM Medical<br />

Center, Burlington. Born in Chateaugay, NY, on Aug. 8,<br />

1942, she was the daughter of Leo and Lumina (Patenaude)<br />

LeClair. Florence was employed for many years at Tru-<br />

Stitch in Malone, and later as a housekeeper at the Vilas<br />

Home in Plattsburgh, retiring after many years of service.<br />

She enjoyed crafting, puzzle books and watching TV in the<br />

evening with her companion, Bill. She was a kindhearted,<br />

loving, generous person who enjoyed her grandchildren and<br />

great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter and<br />

son-in-law Wendy and Aphichart Nantasaeng; two grandchildren;<br />

three great-grandchildren; her companion, William<br />

“Bill” Sharpe, and his three children; a sister, Cynthia<br />

LeClair; two brothers and a sister-in-law Raymond and<br />

Mabel LeClair, Lawrence LeClair; as well as many nieces<br />

and nephews.<br />

JAMES C. “JIM” MOULTON,<br />

69, died Dec. 13, 20<strong>17</strong>, in his home,<br />

surrounded by family, of cancer associated<br />

with exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. He<br />

was born Feb. 21, 1948, in Elkins, NH, the son<br />

of Gerald C. and Alice Hayes Moulton. He<br />

grew up in Elkins, attended New London High<br />

School and worked with his father building the family home<br />

and logging with his grandfather by horse-drawn team. Mr.<br />

Moulton was drafted at age 18 to serve in the U.S. Army<br />

182nd Aviation Company as an airframe repairman in<br />

Vietnam. He was employed at a machinest in Newport and<br />

then at Town & Country Realty in Claremont after obtaining<br />

his real estate/brokerage license, as well as being a stay-athome<br />

dad. He was a musician, economist, numismatist, and<br />

artist who enjoyed the mountains and camping. Survivors<br />

include his wife, Donna (Tilton) Moulton, of Newport,<br />

whom he married Sept. 24, 1983; his children, Kyle<br />

Moulton, of Barre, and Kelsey Moulton, of Boston, MA; two<br />

siblings, Faith Moulton, of Franklin, and Michael Moulton,<br />

of New London; and three nephews.<br />

WINIFRED “WINNIE” SAMSON, 103, formerly<br />

of Valliere Avenue and more recently of<br />

Barre Gardens, passed away on Dec. 14, 20<strong>17</strong>,<br />

at the Central Vermont Medical Center in<br />

Berlin with her family at her bedside. Born in<br />

Northfield, on Oct. 22, 1914, she was the<br />

daughter of the late Noah and Annie (Duquette)<br />

Eurbin. Winnie married John L. Samson on July 25, 1932,<br />

and made their home in Northfield. They then moved to<br />

Barre. She was a custom drape maker for <strong>27</strong> years and<br />

retired in her early 80s. She enjoyed being at Barre Gardens<br />

because they could keep her busy playing bingo, and always<br />

enjoyed the bands, and DJ Shane Roya, doing karoke with<br />

her daughters Irene and Joanne singing. Survivors include<br />

her four daughters Eveline Atkins and her husband, James<br />

W., of Boynton Beach, FL; Irene Brown and her husband,<br />

Douglas, of Barre; Joanne Tremblay and her husband, Ulric,<br />

of Barre and Boynton Beach, FL; Cindi LaFayette and her<br />

husband, Joseph, of Williston. Her nephew was very dear to<br />

her, Cyrille Samson and his wife, Claudette, of Homosassa,<br />

FL. Proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren,<br />

<strong>12</strong> great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces<br />

and nephews.<br />

ANTHONY PAT “FADADDA” TAMBURRI,<br />

Spaulding High School class of 1946, passed<br />

away Aug. 29, 20<strong>17</strong>, at his home in Sun City,<br />

CA, at the age of 89. He is survived by three<br />

children and six grandchildren. The funeral<br />

was on Sept. <strong>12</strong>, 20<strong>17</strong>, at the St. Vincent Ferrer<br />

Catholic Church in Sun City. Officiating was<br />

Father Joseph Mel Collier. Interment was in the Miramar<br />

National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Arrangments were by<br />

the Miller-Jones Mortuary in Sun City.
