Veterans of the Civil War Camp 302, hosted a successful homeless<br />

Veterans Stand Down. Barre Lodge members donated well<br />

over 500 volunteer hours, as well as clothing, toiletries, camping<br />

who worked in the school building for at least a period of twenty<br />

• Karen Bedard of Orange, VT was recently presented a check<br />

for $4,500 by Sue Walker, Lisa Buck and Diann Chaloux, creators<br />

and organizers of “The Ladies Ride for Breast Cancer” This<br />

year’s ride, held on September 23rd, was the 4th annual event.<br />

playgrounds, and events.<br />

• The American Legion Auxiliary Barre Unit 10 held its annual<br />

Remembrance Tree ceremony on Sunday, December 10th, at the<br />

American Legion Post 10, Main St., Barre. The monument reads<br />

“In honor of veterans, living and deceased, who have served their<br />

country.” Each year, on the second Sunday in December, the tree<br />

is lit and names of honored veterans are read. Families and<br />

friends sponsor the light bulbs, blue for deceased veterans and<br />

white for our living veterans. Proceeds go to Unit 10 Veterans’<br />

Rehabilitation Fund.<br />

• Members of The Barre Lions Club presented Jen Evans,<br />

Capstone’s Family and Community Support Services Coordinator,<br />

with 72 healthy meals of soy, beans, and veggies. The meals,<br />

which feed six people each, are part of an OUTREACH Program<br />

from the District 45 Lions Clubs.<br />
