Beginning To Believe
In the American science fiction film “the Matrix,” A computer hacker (Neo) learns from
mysterious rebels about the true nature of his reality and his role in the war against its
controllers. Throughout this movie Neo establishes a relationship with the rebel leader
known as Morpheus. Morpheus is convinced of Neo’s true identity and his role in the
war however, Neo is oblivious until this one scene. During the climactic final battle,
after a series of adverse situations, Neo is faced with his greatest threat. Suddenly,
Morpheus makes this statement, “he’s beginning to believe.”
There is a big difference between what we think we believe and what we know we
believe. You can go to church every day, pray for endless hours, and attend every
revival meeting known to man but you will not know what you truly believe until your
faith is tested by adversity. Adversity can turn your life upside down, knock the wind
out of you, and challenge you beyond what you are accustomed too. It is when
adversity has stretched you and left you dangling from a thread, drained of every ounce
of strength, leaving you with nothing more to give that you discover what you truly
believe.
I remember the moment when I decided to believe, when I said, “enough is enough.” It
was when I was hanging from a thread, lost everything, and had nothing more to give
that I activated my God-given super power, my imagination, and created a new picture
for my life. It was at that moment that I discovered I was stronger than any adversity I
could face and that one day I would live the life I imagined. It was at that moment
when I stopped “knowing” the path and started “walking” the path.
Friend, I wish I could tell you faith is like a magic pill that will remove every difficult
situation you are currently facing but that would be a lie. I wish I could tell you your
load will get lighter but that too would be a lie. The truth is faith like fear is a
conscious, intentional choice we make daily. So if you currently find yourself stretched
like never before, dangling by a thread, exhausted, and have nothing more to give I
dare you to once again stand firm, and consciously, intentionally, activate your Godgiven
super power and change the direction you are heading in. Consciously,
intentionally change the story you currently believe about yourself and of your current
situation. You ARE stronger then you think! It does not matter if you cannot see any
evidence of progress around you- consciously, intentionally choose faith over fear.
