Region has taken hundreds of life-long
learners from Continuing Education to see

Chernow’s 2004 biography of the first U.S.
Secretary of the Treasury, has won 11 Tony
Awards, a Grammy, and the Pulitzer Prize
for drama. We sold out before our catalog
went to print and are currently working on
securing tickets for another show. If you

educational travel program. Dr. Woods’ first
tour with us is to Illinois to explore Abraham
Lincoln’s early years in New Salem,
Springfield and his log cabin boyhood

Hamilton Block Print

UW Colleges is proud to feature artist Tony
Drehfal on a daytrip to Hamilton Wood
Type & Printing Museum, and to Still Bend,
a Frank Lloyd Wright home in Two Rivers.
Tony is internationally recognized as one
of the world’s foremost wood engravers.
Tony Drehfal presently serves on Wood
Engraver's Network leadership team, which
is now in the process of partnering with
the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum
to create a wood engraving exhibit,
classroom & library space within their Two
Rivers museum. At the museum, we will
receive a guided tour of the world’s largest
premier wood type collection. A tour of
Still Bend will round out our experience in
Two Rivers. The Bernard Schwartz House is
also known as Still Bend or FLW’s Life Magazine
"Dream House,” since Wright originally
designed the house for the magazine
in 1938. The Schwartz House is one of the
few Wright homes
that allow guests
to spend the night.

American Players Theatre
Summer, 2018
Led by Karin Sundelius
Join group leader Karin Sundelius for
a day to “play in the park” at American
Players Theatre. Last year, Karin took a very
appreciative group to see APT’s A Midsummer’s
Night Dream, and they loved it. The
group marked their trip and guide as their
favorite daytrip with UW Colleges. Karin
will reprise her role as our newest and
most engaging guide this summer with a
return to Spring Green. Date and play to
be determined after APT posts calendar.

ABQ International Balloon Fiesta
(AIBF): Albuquerque and Santa Fe
October 9 – 13, 2018

Based on your feedback, we’ve decided to
take you back to ABQ and help you check
off another destination from your Bucket
List to see the Albuquerque International
Balloon Fiesta! With 500 plus balloons, the
AIBF is the largest balloon festival in the
world. Our group will be there for the spectacular
Mass Ascension in the morning.
We will return at night to see the balloons
illuminated by their propane burners at
the Night Glow. For an additional fee, we’ll
offer the opportunity to take your own
hot air balloon ride over the Rio Grande
Valley with World Balloon. We’ve extended
the trip by one day to include a visit to
historic Santa Fe for a tour with a Georgia
O’Keefe docent and lunch at the historic
La Fonda on the Plaza. Don’t worry, you’ll
have plenty of time to explore the many
galleries and museums off the plaza. With
daytrips to living pueblos and beautiful
back country splendor, we’ll discover why
New Mexico is the “Land of Enchantment.”

Woods as a featured travel
leader. After receiving a
PhD in American Studies
from the University of
Minnesota, Tom managed
the Oliver H. Kelley Farm,
a living history farm of the
1860s in Minnesota, and served as head of
the Historic Sites Department for the Minnesota
Historical Society, worked as Director
of Old World Wisconsin for the Wisconsin
Historical Society, and then as Executive
Director of Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic
Site and Archives in Honolulu.
