SOUTHEAST REGION
EDUCATIONAL TRAVEL
Hamilton - Waitlist only!
Led by Vic Passante
In the past year, UW Colleges Southeast
Region has taken hundreds of life-long
learners from Continuing Education to see
this American sensation! Lin-Manuel Miranda’s
creation, Hamilton, based on Ron
Chernow’s 2004 biography of the first U.S.
Secretary of the Treasury, has won 11 Tony
Awards, a Grammy, and the Pulitzer Prize
for drama. We sold out before our catalog
went to print and are currently working on
securing tickets for another show. If you
would like to see why Hamilton has already
become a classic, you will want to register
to be on our waitlist. Price
will be dependent on
ticket availability. Our past
daytrip package was $324/
person and included front
Mezzanine seats, lunch at
Rivers Restaurant, and transportation from
UW Waukesha on Coach USA, aka UWC’s
“university on wheels”.
Lincoln: People and Places in his
Early Life
May 15 - 17, 2018
Led by Dr. Tom Woods
Dr. Tom Woods, Executive Director Emeritus
at Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic
Site and Archives, former director of Old
World Wisconsin, and head of the Minnesota
Historical Society’s Historic Sites
Department, brings his thirty years of
experience in living history museums and
“making sense of place” to UW Colleges’
educational travel program. Dr. Woods’ first
tour with us is to Illinois to explore Abraham
Lincoln’s early years in New Salem,
Springfield and his log cabin boyhood
near Lerna. Join
UW Colleges and
Tom for a twonight,
three-day
trip filled with
the history, the
stories and song, and the childhood of our
16th President. Please visit our website for
Two Rivers: Frank Lloyd Wright and
Hamilton Block Print
October 24, 2018
Led by Vic Passante
UW Colleges is proud to feature artist Tony
Drehfal on a daytrip to Hamilton Wood
Type & Printing Museum, and to Still Bend,
a Frank Lloyd Wright home in Two Rivers.
Tony is internationally recognized as one
of the world’s foremost wood engravers.
Tony Drehfal presently serves on Wood
Engraver's Network leadership team, which
is now in the process of partnering with
the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum
to create a wood engraving exhibit,
classroom & library space within their Two
Rivers museum. At the museum, we will
receive a guided tour of the world’s largest
premier wood type collection. A tour of
Still Bend will round out our experience in
Two Rivers. The Bernard Schwartz House is
also known as Still Bend or FLW’s Life Magazine
"Dream House,” since Wright originally
designed the house for the magazine
in 1938. The Schwartz House is one of the
few Wright homes
that allow guests
to spend the night.
Although we won’t
be spending the
night there, we will
have an opportunity to have our lunch in
the Still Bend. Please visit our website for
detailed itinerary.
