YOUTH
Computer Programming Camp!
Available for Ages 8-14
We experience computers and its digital creations every day. It is not
enough to just know how to use a computer anymore. Creating, developing
computational thinking and ability to personalize & customize
applications to solve your problems are needed skills today.
It is no surprise then that Computer Science represents the fastest
growing segment of jobs in all STEM fields. Experts believe that this
field is impacting roughly 80% of all STEM jobs directly or indirectly.
Programs are designed to engage young minds and help them advance from being merely
computer users to creators. This camp will consist of two workshop programs, Minecraft
and Website Design. See below descriptions and schedule; 11-14 camp will offer more advanced
content. Skills Focus: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking,
Mathematical Practice, Computational Thinking, Computing Practice and Programming.
Please bring a bag lunch and drink.
Advanced Manufacturing Camp!
Available for Ages 8-14
The use of innovative technology is improving products and
processes all around us. Computing technologies are at the
heart of the rapid innovations seen in recent times. This camp
is designed to promote innovative thinking in young minds
through an integration of hardware and software. We will
find the answers to questions like these: What is the skeletal
make-up of computers? What are some ways we use computing
technologies to organize content, structure our thinking
and improve communications? How can we automate repeat ing steps in manufacturing
and get things done without the muscle power? This camp will consist of two workshop
programs: Ah! The Power of Math Computers and Communica tion. Please bring a bag
lunch and drink.
Biomedical Engineering Camp!
Available for Ages 8-14
The emerging field of Biomedical engineering deals with the application
of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine
and biology for healthcare purposes. Closing the gap between
engineering and life sciences, this is an exciting intersection of two
classic industries: health and mechanical engineering. This camp will
consist of two workshops: Hitting the Funny Bone and I Spy, My Eye
(8-11yrs) and Organ Systems and Eyeing Virtual Reality (11-14yrs).
Please bring a bag lunch and drink.
