YOUTH SOUTHEAST REGION NEW! UW Summer College for Kids Camps! Our new summer camps are designed to meet the needs of highly motivated children between the ages of 8-14. We are eager to provide safe, fun, hands-on learning that will provide a foundation of skills that students will continue to build upon throughout their lives. These main skills: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Creativity are the 4 C’s that employers are looking for. Our goal is provide students with these key skills needed for success and individual growth. Our camps provide students with the ability to: · Learn at an appropriate level and pace through interesting activities · Investigate a broad variety of ideas & topics · Experience creative thinking & problem solving · Seek practical applications of knowledge · Develop self-awareness & acceptance of one’s own capacities, interests, and needs Summer camp topics include: Computer Programming camp- Minecraft Gamers and Website Design Biomedical Engineering Camp- Organ Systems I - Hitting the Funny Bone, and Eyeing Virtual Reality Classic Engineering Camp – Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering Mechanical Engineering Camp – Motion Commotion and Animal Frenzy Advanced Manufacturing Camp – Ah! The Power of Math and Computers and Communication UW Summer College for Kids camps will consist of two workshops each for both age groups, ages 11-14 camps will offer more advanced content (ADV). Students will receive information on higher education opportunities and a camp gift. All camps will meet Monday through Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm, $299*. Save! Available for Ages 8-14 One of the oldest and broadest fields of engineering, Mechanical deals with design and production of machine and tools. It fueled the industrial revolution and today mechanical engineers are pursuing developments in biomedics, nanotechnology, and mechatronics. Participants venture into the land of mechanics in this exciting series of hands-on / minds-on programs. SOUTHEAST REGION YOUTH Computer Programming Camp! Available for Ages 8-14 We experience computers and its digital creations every day. It is not enough to just know how to use a computer anymore. Creating, developing computational thinking and ability to personalize & customize applications to solve your problems are needed skills today. It is no surprise then that Computer Science represents the fastest growing segment of jobs in all STEM fields. Experts believe that this field is impacting roughly 80% of all STEM jobs directly or indirectly. Programs are designed to engage young minds and help them advance from being merely computer users to creators. This camp will consist of two workshop programs, Minecraft and Website Design. What are some ways we use computing technologies to organize content, structure our thinking and improve communications? How can we automate repeat ing steps in manufacturing and get things done without the muscle power? This camp will consist of two workshop programs: Ah! Closing the gap between engineering and life sciences, this is an exciting intersection of two classic industries: health and mechanical engineering.
