One
Way,
Wrong
Way
ORIGINALLY
designed to
quickly move
traffic out of
Downtown,
is it PAST time
to convert THE
CORE’S one-way
streets TO
TWO-WAY?
Driving Downtown is enough to
give Google Maps a nervous
breakdown.
Let’s try driving over the
Main Street Bridge, heading north.
Water Street goes two ways.
Bay Street goes to the left.
Forsyth goes right.
Adams goes left.
Monroe goes right.
Duval goes left.
Church goes right.
Can you memorize all of this? Do
you want to?
And the gargantuan Duval County
Courthouse blocks several Downtown
streets.
Then, of course, there are the bridges
that are sometimes closed, infinite
roadwork on the interstates and
blockaded Downtown streets under
construction.
There are the times you become
trapped on a one-way street and have
to cross the river or are forced onto the
interstate.
Even for those who are used to driving
Downtown, it’s confusing.
That’s one reason why people try
to avoid coming Downtown. Also, the
one-way streets make it more difficult
