Wednesday July 13 2016 BAY HARBOUR PAGE 23 Bays’ hopes diminish • By Fraser Walker-Pearce DANNY HALLIGAN’S dream of a top three finish was dashed on Saturday, as his Ferrymead Bays team went down 1-0 to Coastal Spirit. At the start of the season, Halligan said that Bays were not in the Mainland Premier League to make up the numbers, and that “third (place) would be the minimum” expectation. “We’ve been building and improving so I think third would be the minimum expectation and we’ll do everything we can to get that title,” Halligan said in the pre-season. Although it’s still mathematically possible for Bays to finish third, they would have to win all five remaining games in the league, and Nelson Suburbs would have to lose all five of their matches as well. Bays last five matches include playing against league leaders Cashmere Technical and thirdplaced Nelson Suburbs. Bays currently sit in fourth place, 13 points behind Nelson, making their clash on August 13 at Ferrymead Park all the more important. It could get worse for Bays, too, if FC2011 beat Universities on Saturday and Bays lose to Cash Tech, they will drop below FC on the ladder and have no chance of reaching third. Halligan could not be reached by Bay Harbour News for comment.
