Reading to Dogs
Today, 3.30-4.30pm and
Thursday, 3.30-4.30pm
The Reading to Dogs programme
is designed to provide
a relaxed, non-threatening
atmosphere which encourages
children to practice their reading
skills and develop a love of
reading. All furry friends have
been trained and tested for
health, safety and temperament.
Library staff and a dog handler
will be present at all times to
help facilitate the sessions. Each
session is 15 minutes long.
Bookings are essential, please
call 941 7923.

Come along and enjoy a Storytimes
session followed by fun
craft activities. This programme
runs during the school term and
is for children between the ages
of 2-7. There will be a different
story time theme and craft
activity every weekend.

Laughter Club
Sunday, 11am -12pm
Laughter yoga employs no
humour, jokes or comedy and
participants are invited to laugh
for no reason at all. Anyone can
do it. Laughter is a form of exercise.
The group makes eye contact
while taking part in a series
of playful laughter exercises,
including breathing and gentle
stretching. After a short while
the laughter becomes infectious
and genuine.

The Scottish Country Dancing
WINTER EVENT: The Papanui Youth Development Trust is throwing an extravagant dance party
for the school holidays. The dance, for children aged 9-12, will be on Saturday July 16 from 7pm
to 11.30pm. Tickets go on sale Monday at the early bird price of $10 for one-week only. After
that, tickets will be $15 or $20 on the door. The theme of this term’s rave is Winter, so wear
white. Food and drink will be available (cash only). It is a smoke-free and alcohol-free event.

clubs in Christchurch will join
forces and hold a ceilidh, a social
event with Scottish music and
singing, traditional dancing and
storytelling. The Scottish Society,
Hoon Hay Club, The Christchurch
Club, Burnside Club and
Caledonian Society are all hosting
the event. Be welcomed by a
piper, observe an address to the
haggis and enjoy an evening of
ceilidh style dancing. Flat shoes
required.
Tickets cost $10, under 18s $5.
