YOUNG AND OLD: St Margaret’s College junior pupils got to bring their grandparents to school with them last<br />
week. Head of middle school Julie Calder said more than 70 grandparents came to school for the morning on<br />
Wednesday to celebrate grandparents and special friends day. She said the tradition for year 1-6 pupils had<br />
been running for more than 13 years. “The delight in the girls’ faces is just priceless,” she said.<br />

SCIRT programme on<br />
the home straight<br />
SCIRT’s five year programme of repairs to pipes, roads, bridges and retaining<br />
walls is almost complete and we’re aiming to finish construction in December.<br />
The City Council and NZ Transport Agency will continue completing ongoing<br />
repairs to the city's earthquake-damaged infrastructure after SCIRT.<br />
Progress in your neighbourhood<br />
• Fixing the Northern Relief, one of Christchurch’s biggest wastewater pipes running<br />
through Fendalton, Merivale and St Albans is more than halfway through and will be<br />
completed at the end of the year.<br />
• Essential wastewater repairs in Aikmans Road in Merivale are progressing well and will<br />
be completed at the end of the year.<br />
• Ongoing repairs to the wastewater networks in Fendalton, Strowan, Papanui and<br />
Bryndwr are due to finish at the end of <strong>September</strong>.<br />
• The historic Helmore’s Lane Bridge was reopened to pedestrians and cyclists on 5<br />
<strong>September</strong> after major rebuilding.<br />
