Heaton continues winning way
HEATON Normal
Intermediate girls have won
the national primary school
cricket shield for the third
year in a row.
Played in a Twenty20 format
Heaton cruised to the title,
winning all five games including
a big 107-run victory over
Carterton’s St Mary’s School
in the opening round.
As well as clocking up
plenty of runs with the bat,
they also proved to be lethal
with the ball, bowling out
Dunedin’s Balmacewen Intermediate
for 31.
They also beat Morrinsville
SPORTS
Intermediate by 95 runs,
Papatoetoe’s Holy Cross by 27
runs and Wellington’s Raroa
Normal Intermediate by 72
runs.
It could have been their fifth
title in a row if Hamilton’s
Berkley Normal Middle
School hadn’t won in 2014.
The games were held at
the New Zealand Cricket
High-Performance Centre
in Lincoln from Thursday to
Saturday.
