chords are available. Everyone<br />

Any parent or caregiver can<br />

supplied, no bookings necessary,<br />

workshop. Seaside Treasures is a local co-operative shop with more than 50 suppliers<br />

creating, making and providing goods for local people, with the profits going back into the<br />

community. New items arrive daily. The craft group covers lessons on knitting, crocheting,<br />

Earthquake Anniversary<br />

Kite Flying<br />

Sunday September 4, from<br />

1-4pm<br />

To mark six years since<br />

the first big earthquake, the<br />

Kiteman, aka Jim Nicholls, will<br />

put on an extra-big kite display<br />

at his usual flying spot on New<br />

Brighton beach south of the pier,<br />

weather permitting. In an effort<br />

to get young people to join in,<br />

he will have more than 100 kites<br />

to loan to keen young kite-fliers<br />

(one per child). Anyone who<br />

already has a kite is encouraged<br />

to bring it and join in. The event<br />

will depend on wind conditions.<br />
