For starters, check out seven
of the kids’ activities Northern
Beaches Council backs at
local vacation care centres,
libraries, art galleries, plus
other centre-based activities
and excursions for youngsters
aged 4 to 15 years all led by
professional carers.
Easter Egg Decoration
Decorate an egg for a chance

Kids On The Coast
A fun-filled program of exciting,
educational activities
returns to the Coastal Environmental
Centre at Narrabeen.
From Snack Habitat, where
kids get into the MasterChef
spirit and cook up a storm,
to learning how to survive
on the coastline by making
tools from plants and stones
or learning how to find bush
tucker, or simply getting up
close and personal with coastal
wildlife, there’s something
for all. Activities are hands-on
and provide children aged
6-12 to 12 opportunities to
interact with the natural world
in a safe, supervised environment.
The program runs from
10-21 April; activities start
at 10am and finish at 3pm
and cost $60, which includes
morning and afternoon activities
and supervision over a
BYO lunch. Bookings essential

Learn To Swim
These classes at Warringah
Aquatic Centre are ideal for
improving swimming skills,
giving your child extra
confidence and water safety
awareness. The classes run
for 30 minutes each day of the
program. New swimmers will
require a swim assessment
prior to booking. From 10-13
April, 9am-12pm Cost: $71.60
(4 days). New swimmers additional

Day At The Museum
Visit the Australian Museum
and marvel at their huge
range of strange, fascinating
and interesting collections
and exhibitions. For kids aged
5-12 on April 12. Leaves from
Forestville Vacation Care Centre.

Liquid Nitrogen Show
Be amazed by this cool
performance as the scientist
uses liquid nitrogen to shrink
balloons, make a glove fly,
smash a rubber ball and create
frozen bubbles. To finish
the show watch as ice cream is
created before your eyes with
everyone treated to a taste.

Chess Tournament
Kids can test their skills
against others in a round robin
chess competition at Manly
Library. For ages15 and under
on Wed 19 April, 10am-2pm.

Wild About Whales
Marine biologist Dr Michelle
about those fascinating ‘giants
of the ocean’, Whales for ages
4-12 at Mona Vale Library, 20

Tennis
The kids can learn tennis from
the best and have fun along
the way at Goodwin’s Tennis
Academy holiday camps at Careel
Bay, Mona Vale and Narrabeen.

Sailing
The Kid’s Learn to Sail Holiday
Program at The Royal Prince Alfred
Yacht Club provides a fun,
and safe introduction to sailing
and the marine environment.
Programs are tailored to age
groups and conducted in the
safety of Pittwater, under the
supervision of fully qualified
instructors. From 9am-3.30pm
on 10-13 April and 18-21st
April. Cost: Non-Members

Jump On A Ferry
Head to Palm Beach and take
the kids on a journey on our
pristine waters. There are a
few options with price points
that won’t cost the earth. Escape
for the day on the timber
passenger ferry Merinda II for
a 60km scenic Palm Beach &
Hawkesbury River cruise which
includes commentary along

– formerly Palm Beach Ferries
– (9974 2411) can get you to
the Central Coast departing
roughly every hour and
offers trips to Bennett Wharf
& Bonnie Doon, The Basin,

opposite the wharf and treat
yourselves to authentic Italian
Gelato from Duccio Gelato, offering

ABC Kids Live
Join Lah-Lah’s Big Live
Band from ABC KIDS LIVE on
stage at Dee Why RSL April 11
and give the kids the chance
to meet these leaders of
preschool music education
and their wonderful
instruments after the show.

Canvas Painting
Children will paint a large,
colourful self-portrait guided
by a qualified, experienced
teacher. Students will learn
the proportions of the face,
colour mixing and expressive
paint application. Individual
expression is encouraged
at all times. Wed 19th April
from 10am-12pm at the Avalon
Rec Centre. Cost $50 including
all materials for kids
aged 5-12years. Children need
to bring large clear photo of
their head and shoulders.
