39th Annual Frank Stick Memorial Art Show To Change Venue<br />
Dare County Arts Council announces<br />
a Call for Entry for the<br />
Annual Frank Stick Memorial Art<br />
Show, which will be held at the<br />
DCAC Gallery for the fi rst time<br />
since its inception 39 years ago.<br />
Artists are encouraged to enter<br />
their most innovative work for the possibility of winning<br />
the distinctive Eure Best in Show Award, which is an<br />
ode to Glenn and Pat Eure for their many years of hosting<br />
the Frank Stick Memorial Art Show at Ghost Fleet<br />
Gallery.<br />
“No one has done more for the arts on the Outer<br />
Banks than Glenn and Pat Eure,” said Dare County Arts<br />
Council Executive Director Chris Sawin. “After hosting<br />
the Frank Stick Memorial Art Show at Ghost Fleet Gallery<br />
for so long, we found it fi tting to name our Best in<br />
Show Award after them. We appreciate everything they<br />
have done to support this show.”<br />
The Frank Stick Memorial Art Show is open to Dare<br />
County Arts Council members and residents of Dare<br />
County age 18 and over. Artists wishing to participate<br />
in this year’s show can fi nd a prospectus online at<br />
DareArts.org and at the DCAC Gallery. The show will<br />
be on display at the DCAC Gallery January 28-February<br />
25, 2017.<br />
The opening reception will be held Saturday, January<br />
28 from 6-8pm at the Dare County Arts Council Gallery<br />
and will feature hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and awards.<br />

Artists will be eligible for numerous awards including:<br />
Eure Best in Show, three Excellence Awards, The<br />
Beach Book Excellence Award, two Beach Book Honorable<br />
Mentions, two additional Honorable Mentions,<br />
and a People’s Choice Award which will be selected by<br />
public ballot during the opening reception.<br />
“The artwork selected for The Beach Book Excellence<br />
Award will become Beach Book cover art and each of<br />
our Honorable Mentions will grace the cover of our sister<br />
publications. They will be distributed to approximately<br />
65,000 homes and businesses in our area,” said Jeff<br />
Graham from The Beach Book.<br />
All other awards will be selected by Ceramic Artist<br />
Ben Jordan, who is currently a long-term resident artist<br />
at Pocosin Arts in Columbia, North Carolina. Jordan<br />
earned a Bachelors of Fine Art in ceramics at Northern<br />
Arizona University. After finishing a residency at the Red<br />
Lodge Clay Center, he obtained his Masters in Fine Art<br />
in ceramics from Virginia Commonwealth University.<br />
The annual show is held in memory of Outer Banks<br />
preservationist and artist Frank Stick, and is the longest<br />
running visual arts exhibit in Dare County.<br />
