We noticed two little side by sides on the Waterberg ride in January. We’d never seen them before, so we got chatting to the owners and set up a meet to find out a bit more. This is a fledgling project for now – but they have big plans… 52 DIRT & TRAIL MAGAZINE MARCH 2018
Revaro is a company that imports and services brickmaking machines of all things. They imported these two Carretjies and have had so much fun that they are importing more – including bigger cc units. They tell us that they have spent a lot of time testing and driving them all over the place. They also tell us that parts and warranties are already sorted… We need to stress that the UTV’s that we tested are pretty entry level. Do not expect RZR 1000 type performance, but if you are looking for an unassuming fun toy, then they are worth a second look. Both of these are two wheel drive with automatic gear actuation. Both include safety features like seatbelts and bucket seats. Both have grab handles for the passengers. The 200 comes with safety nets, the 400 has proper doors. Our test track was a plot area full of little hobbles and grassy step ups. Before long, there was a figure of 8 track and there was a discernable trail running around the perimeter and up and down the grassy slopes. The Red 200: This is the baby – 200cc’s of four stroke power. It is roomy and comfortable, with simple gear actuation and operation. The little chain driven SXS trundles along happily at a top speed just on the 35kph mark and is actually quite a lot of fun. Nothing mind blowing, but we’d happily pop the kids on board for a great adventure out into the veld. Or we’d use it DIRT & TRAIL MAGAZINE MARCH 2018 5 3
