Mamarock Enduro Track
A COOL PLACE TO RIDE
We’d heard that the old Riverside Mixer has been
reincarnated in the form of Mamarock Enduro park. We
dragged along a bunch of bikes and buddies to go and
have a looksee – and we really like what we saw.
It’s nestled in the koppies in Pretoria’s back yard, near
Mamelodi, just off the Cullinan offramp.
What’s it like?
Really cool. In fact, some of the top enduro boys seem to
really like it too. We bumped into all sorts of race snakes
while we were out playing about. It is essentially a 6km
lekker, tight, twisty single spoor that wends it’s way
through the bush. To make things exciting, the guys have
dumped piles of rocks all over the place, tractor tyres,
car tyres, drainage pipes and logs. Lots of logs. And the
natural trails include a few tight sandy trails, dongas,
roots earthen walls – it great fun.
But don’t despair. If you, like us are just mere mortals,
there are little sneak routes past all the man made stuff –
and even the sneaks are marked red for more tech and
blue for easy.
It’s a hugely entertaining track and even if you go along
as a spectator, you’ll be able to watch the guys who can,
tackle the rougher stuff.
Get there, go round and round and you’ll be a lot fitter
– it’s awesome.
100 bucks for the day – bikes only.
When you’ve loaded up, you can wander into the
clubhouse – really rustic with a cool splash pool, pub and
entertainment area.
