overall second for the day - what a great
way to start the season!”
Making his return to the MX scene after a
lengthy time off due to injury was Maddy
Malan. It was a rough start in MX1 after
a collision with another rider. Malan
managed to stay composed and fight his
way back to an overall ninth place.
MX2 went better for the rider, who
overcame a slow start to finish the first
moto in fourth place.
Malan was off to a great start in the
second moto, but admits to getting tired
halfway through the heat: “It’s been
tough getting back into things - the
rough track definitely took its toll on me
in the second moto! But I’m happy to
walk away only ten points behind the
leader and look forward to what the rest
of the season holds,” he said.
Rising star Neil van der Vyver took an
overall sixth place in the 65cc class. The
young gun was beaming after the race and
said, “I’m just so glad to be racing again!
I had a great day out and know that the
season will just get better.”
