Safety Event is co-located with The Health &<br />

Safety Event and The Facilities Event, with the<br />

fire safety exhibition boasting 40 leading<br />

manufacturers including Advanced, Klaxon,<br />

C-Tec, Checkmate Fire, BT Redcare, Kingspan,<br />

Patol, Apollo, EMS, FireClass and Fike.<br />

The event is backed by a number of key<br />

associations in the fire sector including the<br />

Institution of Fire Engineers, the Rail Industry<br />

Fire Association, the Association for Specialist<br />

Fire Protection, the British Automatic Fire<br />

Sprinkler Association, the Institute of Fire Safety<br />

Managers, the Association of Insurance<br />

Surveyors, the National Association of<br />

Healthcare Fire Officers, BAFE and the SSAIB<br />

who’ve agreed to exhibit and speak at the event.<br />

Attendees will have access to more than 20<br />

hours of seminar content split across two<br />

dedicated theatres, namely the Fire Safety<br />

Keynote Theatre (sponsored by Advanced) and<br />

the Fire and Evacuation Theatre.<br />

In addition, visitors are invited to attend<br />

breakfast briefings on all three days where they<br />

will enjoy refreshments while networking and<br />

learn from sessions on cladding fires (10 April),<br />

10 April 2018<br />

The Fire Safety Keynote Theatre boasts three<br />

sessions on Day 1, beginning with Advanced’s<br />

Neil Parkin delivering an address on how to<br />

eliminate false alarms. This will be followed by a<br />

mock trial on the Fire Safety Order led by Warren<br />

Spencer (who has prosecuted more than 120<br />

cases under the Order). Dr Bob Docherty is set<br />

to deliver a session entitled ‘Passport to Fire<br />

Safety’, focusing on ensuring that workplaces<br />

are compliant with current fire safety laws.<br />

The Fire and Evacuation Theatre is hosting a<br />

session on the devastating effects of fires on<br />

trains, buses and at sea and how to take steps<br />

to mitigate the risks as well as a panel debate<br />

on the safe evacuation of premises.<br />

11 April 2018<br />

Highlights from Day 2 include a Corporate<br />

Manslaughter mock trial, delivered on behalf of<br />

Turner and Townsend by Gerard Forlin QC from<br />

Cornerstone Barristers. Other sessions include<br />

guidance focused on how to evacuate premises<br />

safely during terrorist attacks and how to<br />

identify a competent contractor able to carry out<br />

specialist fire safety work.<br />

Kingspan’s Mark Harris will address the key<br />

topic of the fire safety of insulated panels and<br />

facade systems. This has become a mainstream<br />

focus in recent months. There will also be a<br />

panel debate on fire safety in hospitals tasked<br />

with unearthing how to keep patients and<br />

premises safe in the event of a fire and the key<br />

steps towards preventing fire episodes.<br />

12 April 2018<br />

Day 3 includes Keynote sessions on passive fire<br />

protection and complying with the law, lessons<br />

learned from the Grenfell Tower blaze and how<br />

to protect vulnerable people during fires.<br />

For its part, C-Tec will be delivering a session<br />

on how to ensure visual alarm devices are<br />

legally compliant. There will also be one final<br />

panel debate examining reliable fire protection<br />

and the safe evacuation of premises.<br />
