Astrid Weber Whether you are a child or an adult getting to know your body is not as easy as you think. It requires that you set an intention towards the understanding of why it feels the way it does-good or bad. According to the science of Ayurveda medicine, the five fundamental elements: space, water, fire air, and earth also make up a part of the human physiology. Ayurveda medicine also describes three biological energies called doshas. The three doshas are: Vata, Pitta and Kapha and each is primarily a combination of two elements. Vata dosha is made up of space and air. Pitta dosha is a combination of fire and water. Kapha dosha is made up of water and earth. It is the belief of ayurveda medicine that the doshas have the ability to coordinate all the actions that transpire within us. The true definition of the doshas is more complex but in general when the doshas are stable they are able to maintain overall good health in a person. When unbalanced they are in a negative state and that is when problems occur. Understanding your dosha body type can help direct you toward overall well-being. It will help you to recognize that when you react to any given situation it is because your body is sending your brain a signal. Every time your brain thinks, there is a body action/ reaction or event that responds. The three doshas regulate all the functions of the mindbody system. Vata controls movement, Pitta controls metabolism and Kapha controls structure. Vata, Pitta, and Kapha may be described as the fundamental principals that exist in the body, but they also take on a material form in the blood, bones, stomach, heartbeat and breathing. Now that I mentioned that the five elements- space, air, fire, water and earth-also exist in the doshas you can begin to think deeper. The doshas also have sub-doshas that sit in other parts of the body. Sub-doshas can be situated in the brain, head, chest, stomach or colon. There is a vast amount of information available regarding the doshas and sub-doshas and some of it may be confusing. It is for that reason that I recommend you read Deepak Chopra’s book “Perfect Heath” to fully grasp the information discussed in this guide. There are also numerous surveys and questionnaires that you can be acquired on the internet that will assist you in determining your personal dosha type. What I have provided for the reader of this guide is simply an overview, but it should be sufficient to get you started in process. MARCH 22, 2018 WEEKLYNEWS.NET - 978-532-5880 15 Tony C’s opening at Northshore Mall in May Tony C’s Sports Bar & Grill, a popular sports bar with four existing locations throughout the Greater Boston area, will open its fifth outpost at the Northshore Mall in Peabody this May. Located at 210 Andover Street, the 7,700 squarefoot venue is sure to become home base for sports fans in the area, offering an extensive menu of American comfort food, 40 beers on tap and an unparalleled audiovisual experience with more than 70 high-definition TVs throughout the restaurant and patio. Named in honor of Red Sox legend and North Shore native, Tony Conigliaro, Tony C’s Sports Bar & Grill in Peabody will elevate the typical sports viewing experience by offering guests the best of both worlds. Sports fans will have frontrow seats to every game with the restaurant’s four-sided Jumbotron TV display, large central bar and booth seating, while a private dining room offers a more intimate experience with seating for up to 38 guests. Two of those locations are in Peabody, a Toys R Us on Andover Street across from the Northshore Mall, and a Babies R Us on Andover Street in the Burlington Coat Factory plaza. The only glimmer of hope for the company is a Toys R Us plan to try to bundle its Canadian business with about 200 of its high performing U.S. stores and find a buyer. “I am very disappointed with the result, but we no longer have the financial support to continue the Company’s U.S. operations,” said Dave Brandon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We are therefore implementing an orderly process to shutter our U.S. operations and will pursue going concern sales or reorganizations of certain of our international businesses, while our other international businesses consider their options.” With the closing, customers now have fewer than 30 Lynnfield Landscaping “Environmentally preferred” days to redeem any Toys R Us or Babies R Us gift certificates at the stores locations. While some local residents said Toys R Us could be overpriced and not well run, other said they will miss the experience of taking their children to an actual toy store instead of shopping online. “I’m sorry that future children won’t have the awe-inspiring experience of walking into a huge toy store,” said Linda Venturi Durkin. “Yes, expensive, but sometimes it’s worth it to see their expressions. Can’t get that on Amazon.” Yvette Igou-Lane said she remembered her dad taking her to Toys R Us in the 1980s when it was still connected to the mall to buy Barbie dolls. Now, she said she likes to take her two young children to the store so they can see and touch the toys. “They always walked in wanting one thing and walked out with something else,” she said. “There is nothing like watching your children examine a toy and decide if they want it.
