BECCLES BEER FESTIVAL
RETURNS TO HALL FOR SPRING...
Following six successful autumn events, the
organisers of Beccles Beer Festival have
responded to popular demand and a Spring
Beer Festival will be held at regular venue,
the Public Hall in Beccles, on the weekend of
Friday-Sunday, 6-8 th April.
It will again be a celebration of Real Ales, Ciders
and Craft Lager from 29 Breweries in Suffolk and
Norfolk, and the organisers hope to see a repeat of
last November when a record 1605 people visited
the 3 day beer festival, drinking over 4,500 pints!
Organisers Graham Elliott and Beccles Lido
Limited Chief Executive, Shaun Crowley, told
Bounce Magazine “The Autumn Beer Festival is
arguably the biggest in the region and we are
expecting that real ale enthusiasts will travel from
all over East Anglia. It’s not just a celebration of
local ales, but it’s held in Beccles Public Hall to
raise funds for Beccles Lido Limited, which owns
and runs the Hall, the Lido and Big Dog Ferry; and
it’s run by Hall and Lido volunteers – so it also
celebrates these fantastic community run Beccles
attractions!”
There will be live music, with the return of popular
local performers Tosh & The Moonlighers on Friday
at 9pm, playing a mix of party favourites and their
own songs; and on Saturday night Solana play
as part of their UK tour, bringing their stomping
selection of toe tapping tunes combining folk,
klezmer, flamenco, jazz and Arabic influences!
Sunday will have a lower key vibe with families
welcome. As usual, the Public Hall will also have
a fully licensed bar selling wines, spirits and soft
drinks for the non-ale drinkers; and there will
be a good selection of hot and cold snacks to
complement the beer, served by Lido and Hall
volunteers. If you don’t drink them dry, off-license
sales will be available from 5:30pm on Sunday.
So make this a weekend to get over to Beccles -
and why not use the bus or train so that you can
really enjoy a selection of the tipples on offer?
Ferry trips to & from Beccles Lido
The Big Dog Ferry runs between Beccles Lido and
the Locks Inn, Geldeston. A relaxing 3 mile boat
trip along the River Waveney with the opportunity
to enjoy the wildlife en-route and a meal and drink
at Geldeston. Or stay on board for a round trip. If
you’re feeling energetic you could
take a one-way ticket and
walk back on delightful
footpaths.
Regular timetabled trips daily 30 March to October
