Kejiwaan continued
The latihan space will be made available
for small group testing for personal or
workshop related issues in the large
hall when general latihans are not
happening. The hall is very large, many
corners will be available and perhaps
divided to isolate some spaces. So that
members can sign up for testing, a desk
with sign up sheets will be available in
front of both the men’s and the women’s
latihan rooms. Helper volunteers will
also sign up here so that members and
helpers can meet at specific times.
As their schedule will be very full with
new officer testing and new IH team
testing, the IH will not be available for
all kejiwaan activities. However, they
do plan to have some helper meetings
and youth support activities. Flexibility
is the most important ingredient in the
development of this kejiwaan program
as many parts of the program are still
in the process of being finalized. As
we know more, we will let you know
through FYI, Congress website or
Facebook page. g

Freiburg is one of the most southernmost
cities in Germany and consequently one of its
warmest. Its near-Mediterranean climate is one
of the reasons that it is so popular as a vacation
spot. Average temperatures from July-August are
a comfortable 18-23C / 64-74F but temperatures
have been known to go up to 32C (90F) at
midday. g

For many Subud members
who attend congresses it’s a
chance to catch up with old
friends and make new ones.
It’s an opportunity to do latihan
together, share experiences,
renew acquaintances and
renew themselves. We learn
what other members, groups
and the Subud wings are
doing in the world and enjoy
the talents of our brothers
and sisters during cultural and
artistic performances.
But behind the scenes,
much work is being done.
Since the first Subud World
Congress in 1959 in the UK
- when Bapak began setting
up the International Subud
organization - until today,
the organization continues to
develop and evolve.
What they do
The World Subud Association
is coordinated by the Chair,
Deputy Chair, Executive Chair
and Vice Chair and is supported
by an administrative team.
The Subud Council (WSC) is
made up of the Chair, Deputy
Chair, the Executive team, 9
zone reps., 18 IH, Wings Chairs
including SDIA, SICA, SYAI,
SESI, chair of the Muhammad
Subuh Foundation (MSF)
which also plays a role as
the foundation of the WSA,
while the International Helpers
support its overall mission of
supporting the latihan.
Between Congresses, country
delegates discuss projects,
direction, policy and guidelines.
The outcomes become
resolutions that are carried
forward to the Subud World
Congress.
At each World Congress,
resolutions from last Congress
are reviewed, future plans
discussed, recommendations
from the member countries’
delegations are proposed
and presented in the form of
policies. In addition, the WSA
positions are tested as well
as the site for the next World
Congress and the Coordinators/
Chairs of the various wings. g
