With the World
Congress rapidly
approaching in
Germany, it’s time
to look at where we will all meet
again in four years.
So far two countries are bidding
to host the 2022 Subud World
Congress: Subud Australia
has nominated Melbourne and
Subud Indonesia is putting
forward two places: Yogyakarta
and Rungan Sari, Central
Kalimantan (see articles in
Zoning In).

The WSA hopes that many
countries will consider hosting
the World Congress. In
Freiburg, delegates will consider
the proposals by testing with
the international helpers and
by looking at presence of the
following elements:
»»
Fair rotation of countries
hosting the Congresses;
»»
Commitment and
enthusiasm by members
of the host country to
support the efforts of and
being able to create a team
to plan and facilitate a
congress;
»»
Capacity of the country
or zone to also propose
candidates for the WSA
Executive team (former
ISC);
»»
Presence of members with
the skills, experience, time
and responsibility to plan
and facilitate the congress;
»»
Presence of members
who would be ready
and willing to work in
close collaboration with
the Executive team (not
necessarily WSA chair).
Previous experience
will also be taken into
consideration;
»»
Openness on the part of the
country and its proposing
team to learn from the past,
to use proven methods of
operation and to be open to
new ideas.
On a second level of
consideration, the delegates
at the World Congress in
Freiburg will look at:
»»
The existence of venue(s):
with adequate size, spaces
for latihan and working
groups, good spaces that
can serve as social hub
during the congress.
»»
The accommodation
options - opportunities to
satisfy budgets of all kinds
»»
Accessibility and
transportation costs from
furthest distances to
congress site.
»»
Closeness to Subud
Centers.
Please include in your
application proposals an
assessment on how those
elements above can be met
and also please include an
estimate budget projection
based on a reasonable number
of attendees. In case you have
the possibility of raising funds
for hosting the Congress other
than through WSA, please
specify that. The proposal of a
specific venue is welcomed but
not mandatory.
