In September 1925, a local gun<br />
store advertised the sale <strong>of</strong> .45 Colt<br />
pistols and thousands <strong>of</strong> rounds<br />
<strong>of</strong> 30-30 ammunition which had<br />
been purchased from the <strong>Phoenix</strong><br />
<strong>Police</strong> <strong>Reserve</strong>. A month later, the<br />
same gun store advertised the sale<br />
<strong>of</strong> “good as new” 30-30 Winchester<br />
carbines used by the <strong>Phoenix</strong> <strong>Police</strong><br />
<strong>Reserve</strong>, for the price <strong>of</strong> $20 each.<br />
In 1929, the police department<br />
moved into the new city-county<br />
building at 17 South 2nd Avenue,<br />
where it remained until 1975.<br />
Regular patrolmen were paid<br />
$110.00 a month for a six-day<br />
work week.<br />
