What can you do?
Saving energy is not only better for the environment but also for your bank balance,
so we’ve provided some tips for you to see what changes you could make.
• Switch off lights when you leave a room.
• Replace old lightbulbs with energy-saving LED bulbs which cost one tenth
of the price of normal lights to run and last a lot longer.
• Use energy-saving devices with an A+ rated efficiency sticker.
• Don’t leave appliances on standby - you could save as much as £80 on annual bills!
• Set the thermostat to the recommended temperature of 18 to21 degrees.

• Set a timer and have a six-minute shower for a lower electricity bill.
• Turn the tap off whilst brushing your teeth or shaving.
• Wash the dishes using a washing-up bowl rather than letting the water flow.
• Make sure the washing machine has a full load before using it.
• Wash your car with a bucket of water instead of using a hose.
• Fix or report any leaks immediately.

Could the Priority Services Register help?
The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a free service provided by energy suppliers and
network operators to customers in need.
Customers on this register can receive extra support or services depending on their circumstances, for example,
they will receive advanced notice of any works or planned power cuts and priority support in emergencies.
You do not have to register with each energy supplier individually. If you register with Electricity North West, this
information can be shared with your energy suppliers for gas, electricity and water.
