The 3008 rides on grippy 225/55 x 18in Continental
tyres and they provide surety and direct turn-in,
the entire car has directional accuracy and that is a
reassuring feeling given that the 3008’s main role is that
of safe family transport.
Those who do travel on board will have the benefit
of a large occupant area, rear seat passengers haven’t
been jeopardised by a healthy load area.
The new 3008 bristles with technology including
clever display graphics, which can be altered easily
depending on preference, there are two main screens,
all displaying a wealth of information.
New features include three-dimensional satellite
navigation, head-up instrument display and Apple Car
Play and Android Auto capability. These inclusions sit
on what would already be regarded as a high-spec
vehicle in the first instance. I particularly like the array
of toggle switches, which control some of the minor
functions – they are nice to use and look great.
I also like the fabric trim of the test car, while leather
is available on higher grade models, I prefer the nonleather
option and, at under $40k, you still get a lot of
vehicle for the money.
Of course, the 3008 has a five-star safety rating.
The latter is pretty much a mandatory selling point
these days and would have contributed to the 3008
being named the European Car of the Year for 2017. It
was the first SUV to take the title. That, along with all its
other features, makes it a worthy winner in my opinion.
