BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT Beat Street Dance • • • • •• • • • • •• • • •• • • •• • ••• • • • • •• • • •• • • Founder and owner Melissa Florio of Beat Street has been in business for more than 17 years. The studio is based out of the Coral Springs Gymnasium. It offers a wide range of classes including Hip-hop, Ballet, Jazz, and Tap, for students as young as 18 months to adult. Beat Street has four instructors with more than 30 years of combined experience in Hip-hop dancing. Beat Street also offers Twinkle Toes, Peewee, and Mommy and Me classes. Beat Street puts emphasis on the students being able to enjoy themselves through dance. “Dancing should be a form of expression and enjoyment for them, and the studio offers an interactive atmosphere that is able to achieve that goal. The approach is different than what other studios offer in the sense that dancing does not become more of a chore rather than a form of expression. At Beat Street, we endeavor to ensure that our students enjoy and learn at the same time,” Melissa said. Beat Street Dance specializes in Hip-hop dance. They have multiple competitive Hip-hop dance teams who have performed at events such as Legends of the ’80s, Miami Heat and Florida Panthers games. Some of the awards the Hip-hop dance teams have won are: • On-Stage America National Champions • Best Hip-hop Routine • Nationals Best Hip-hop Studio “We would like our clients to understand that dance is not just an activity. Rather, it is a way they can express themselves and speak in a language that is intimate to them. Hence, we ensure that our clients become passionate about all forms of dance and earnestly engage in them,” Melissa said. “We want our clients to look forward to the dance classes, have fun, and find a sense of community in our studio.
