Access for those with physical disabilities must be safeguarded through designs meeting the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) Accessibility Guidelines.
The Community shall provide access to, and will not diminish the quality of, fresh air, sunlight and
natural waterways for any member of society. The Community must also appropriately address any
noise audible to the public.

ANALYSIS
The four nonprofit partners are working to
make infrastructure equally accessible to
all members of the public. Given that the
project includes both child care and elder
care projects, accessibility for different
populations is a high priority.
Designs will be both ADA and ABA
compliant. Air quality, sunlight, and access
to natural waterways will be preserved.
In fact, the Brood Brook Park will restore
public access to Broad Brook, encouraging
Algiers residents to come into contact with
and value this natural resource that has
long been hidden from view. Access to
sunlight should not be a problem because
infrastructure in the village center does not
exceed three stories.
MEETING THE IMPERATIVE
This imperative can be met as part of the
master planning process.
