EDITOR’S CHOICE
The security industry is busy and complex, so it’s easy to
miss new products and services as they get lost in day-today
activities. Every now and again, certain products grab
our attention so here we take a look at some of the
products we think you won’t want to miss this month.
Purpose built microSD card
for surveillance data
As the adoption of 4K Ultra HD video,
emerging AI applications and analytics drive
the growth and evolution of data in
surveillance, Western Digital has unveiled the
Western Digital Purple microSD card,
purpose-built for the complex and dynamic
data demands of modern surveillance
cameras and edge systems.
Optimised for 24/7 surveillance video
capture, the Purple microSD card supports a
continuous surveillance workload. The card
captures and preserves video in a variety of
high-definition and next-generation formats,
including 4K Ultra HD video, as well as
supporting the movement of data to core data
systems for analytics and business insights.
The design of the card enables trusted video
capture in a range of environmental
conditions, including outdoors in
snowy winters and indoors in hot
and humid factory settings.
Outdoor-ready
panoramic fisheye
camera launched
Oncam has announced the availability of the
Evolution 180 Outdoor model to its 180-degree
camera portfolio. The camera has an IP68 rating
making it fit for submersion, as well as an IP69K
rating against water and dust ingress to help
protect it from the harshest of environments. The
enclosure is also IK10+ rated, ensuring protection
against vandalism.
The Evolution 180 Outdoor offers a 12MP
sensor and a 6MP dewarped Panoramic+ image. It
is equipped with Oncam’s Angle Compensation
Technology and Offset Angle Compensation,
which provide adaptive dewarping of a 180-degree
image in the camera. It is also a true day/night
camera and is ONVIF Profile S compliant.
Snapshot sensor for 3D security detection
Sick has launched a configurable, plug-and-play 3D detection sensor for a
range of detection, warning and security duties.
With on-board processing, the Visionary-T DT sensor can be easily set
up to detect the presence or absence of 3D objects. It therefore offers an
entry-level option for protection both of stand-alone objects or exhibits,
and of large and complex wall-standing or mounted items such as furniture and statuary.
Tasks include detecting whether an installation has been damaged, moved, added to or
otherwise affected.
The sensor provides 3D image analysis with a simple yes/no, occupied or unoccupied,
signal depending on the configuration with a sensing area range of up to 50 by 45 metres
at 40 metres distance. A discrete output signal enables easy integration with an
automated security system. Direct communication capability can be set up to a visual
display, acoustic alarm or a PC, enabling activity recording for later appraisal of any
incidents.
The sensor can be configured using a PC, SOPAS software tool and GUI. 3D objects or
detection zones can be taught from the camera.
