Fly the flag -- and<br />

Jun 14 at 6pm in Kings<br />
Court.<br />
<strong>Haddonfield</strong>’s Flag<br />
Day ceremony will begin<br />
with a musical prelude<br />
by the Pick-Up Band. (If<br />
you play an instrument,<br />
bring it!) The flag will be<br />
raised by the Mayor and<br />
Commissioners, along<br />
with the Boy Scouts and<br />
the American Legion<br />
Post 38, who will provide<br />
an Honor Guard.<br />
Sing along with our<br />
local Kindergartners to<br />
patriotic songs. After<br />
the program, enjoy<br />
refreshments. If it rains,<br />
the program will be<br />
cancelled.<br />
Flag Day -- the<br />
anniversary of the Flag<br />
Resolution of 1777 -- was<br />
officially established<br />
by the proclamation<br />
of President Woodrow<br />
Wilson on May 20, 1916.<br />
While Flag Day was<br />
celebrated in various<br />
communities for<br />
years after Wilson’s<br />
proclamation, it was not<br />
until August 3, 1949, that<br />
President Truman signed<br />
an Act of Congress<br />
designating June 14 of<br />
each year as National<br />
Flag Day (usflag.org).<br />
