laser and
sonar wheel
balancer
from
Sun
THE LATEST
wheel balancer
from Sun – the
SWB340L –
provides users
with pinpoint
accuracy, faster measuring
and balancing
times, and a wide range
of other benefits to the workshop.
Sun’s easyWEIGHT pinpoint
laser indicator helps users
of the SWB340L locate the
exact spot on the wheel that
they need to apply the weights,
aided by a high-intensity rim
light to improve vision.
Added to the laser indicator
is the combination of
Smart Sonar and 2D SAPE
(semi-automatic parameter
entry) which speeds up the
measurement process as the
sonar element provides a 30
per cent time saving against
entering the data manually.
The SWB340L also features
Wi-Fi connectivity, so users
can connect to their own networks
and transmit data to
and from computers for display
and printing.
Designed to work on car,
light truck and motorcycle
wheels, the SWB340L allows
technicians to split the position
of weights and hide them
behind wheel spokes, creating
a better visual finish for
the customer, while a reduced
cycle time and easy-to-use
touchscreen monitor streamline
the balancing process
even further.
THERE’S MORE TO
DIAGNOSTICS THAN
SIMPLE FAULT CODES
Capable diagnostic equipment
is a core requirement
NEWS
NOWADAYS, if only to cancel the service
related warning lights, even the most basic
service requires the use of diagnostic
equipment. However, one of the characteristics
that sets apart the Hella Gutmann
Solutions (HGS) mega macs range of diagnostic tools
is the ability to prompt users to the VMs online service
schedule in order to electronically update the vehicle’s
service record. Without fulfilling this function, it is not
uncommon for the service related warning lights to
comeback on and, in extreme cases, for the vehicle to go
into limp mode, as the VM’s online system does not acknowledge
that the vehicle has had the required service
and is therefore unable to verify its safety.
Another problem which unfortunately persists is
when a technician uses superficial diagnostic test results
to automatically change, what could be the faulty component,
but without considering what might have actually
caused the issue or whether an underlying matter is
ultimately responsible.
So, although a tool might display the fault codes that
identifies a problem with the EGR valve, for example,
further diagnosis should be carried out before assuming
a simple replacement will solve the problem. By contrast,
the mega macs diagnostic tool range, in addition
to highlighting the fault codes, will direct the technician
to a series of potential causes for the fault, which may
or may not be remedied by the replacement of the EGR
valve, but will allow them to get to the actual source of
the problem and undertake the correct repair. Unfortunately,
simple replacement remains one of the primary
reasons for drivers returning their vehicle to the workshop
with a reoccurrence of the fault, which incurs costs
to the workshop and inconvenience to the customer.
With the aforementioned ‘smart’ vehicle technology
here to stay and advanced driver assist systems (ADAS)
now virtually a mandatory requirement on new vehicles,
technicians need professional diagnostics and calibration
tools equipped with top-of-the-range features that
provide the precise vehicle data and information, to
complete a fast and efficient repair.
The HGS mega macs range of diagnostic tools provides
the perfect opportunity for workshops to futureproof
their business as they are able to quickly and
accurately find faults and institute a resolution, saving
time and money. The range, in conjunction with vehicle
servicing data, means HGS is perfectly aligned to meet
the needs of today’s workshop.
