S H A D O W O F T H E T O M B R A I D E R D E M O V E R S I O N This addition could be actually great—if you are the same kind of player as I am, the careful explorer searching all corners, you might avoid more than one death and more than thousands of frustrations. Even if there will certainly be parts that the only way to survive will be with wits and speed. What a warm welcome! Lara is now in the entrance of the huge underground space, which is dominated by three things: darkness, platforms and a pyramid on the far end, certainly the way we need to go. Let‘s do first things first then: darkness is solved swiftly with Lara‘s personal light source similar to Legend and Underworld. So we barely knew where to go. But how to cross the abyss? To explore her surroundings meant for Lara to fall to her death few times. We did use the Survival instinct then, showing us the way, much more weakly than before, not a glare on a half of the screen anymore. Hmm… hanging platforms on the ropes above… are the right way, but not as easy as it seems. Lara‘s weight will show its effects sooner than we can make a jump… so let‘s try it again. Well… a rope, a cart with rope-wrapped handles, some fallen debris and wooden beams. Rope arrows are already equipped. THAT COULD DO A THING. Lara do what she is ordered to silently, only in the moment where it´s obvious that I am acting wrong, she will express her opinion. She will much less comment on the progress. A fact that more than one tomb raiding player will very appreciate, I think. Without any further details on the tomb, the most important is the atmosphere, which is breathtaking again, greatly mixed with the soundtrack and effects. By the way, those are not that obvious, but important details that opened the way forward, the excitement and dynamics, and those majestic moments. All of it mixed brilliantly, presented already in the first tomb, so just imagine what we haven‘t seen yet and what remains to be discovered! The path up the pyramid was rightly derived as a way forward. I will not go further in the description of what was going to be next, just enough to say would be that Lara must escape from the arms of death at the last minute.
S H A D O W O F T H E T O M B R A I D E R D E M O V E R S I O N CONCLUSIONS Speaking from what we‘ve seen and experienced with Lara in the demo version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, we can really look forward to THE ADVENTURE, with the right essence of Tomb Raider games we all deeply love, only improved and modernised. Lara is confident, much more evolved, mature, hardened and she certainly did a real progress from the events in Rise. She is much closer to those aspects of classic Lara that we all want and expect to make a return. Speaking about the game itself, there is a visibly darker approach to the story, much more evolved and dynamic. If I am about to compare Shadow with its predecessors… I shall not. The basics are similar, yet remade a bit and quite improved. If the reboot was considered a trilogy from the start, there is certainly „the best for the last“ here. And since you know quite enough about the demo storyline, no more spoiling, we can expect to discover much more that we‘ve seen at the E3 gameplay reveal soon, anyway. Just a notice for the end - do you like Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation? If so, you will be pleasantly surprised by a huge nod to this adventure presented in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Try to discover it yourself, when the video will be out!
