LARA‘S SKILLS AND MOVEMENTS
The same way Lara‘s voice is confident, her movements are as well. She‘s moving with certainty, let the player visibly know that she!s
ready this time. From the first moment, you are equipped with the knife, the rope, the bow and her trusted iconical climbing axe. The
climbing stays very similar to the previous games, but again here Lara seems to be more professional, and now she also can rope down
or swing in any direction, or also she can do a rope—wall run, as seen in the CGI. About the skills and abilities—seems that we do not
have to learn much of them again , the very first kill from the hiding was by a knife.
The language mastering skill system makes its return in the system of learning about the Mayan culture from the murals
and such.
STEALTH
Mentioned above was the primary stealth attack with a knife, probably replaced later by machete. Another aspect that returns is the
high-grass hiding, improved now to the hiding in the overgrown walls. New adding is Lara‘s ability to mask herself with mud, so she becomes
less visible for the enemies. We can't wait to learn what will be ready for us to learn in the jungle itself!
CLIMBING
Even if the amount and animations of Lara's movements will be familiar for you, her returning confidence is much appreciated, If you
are asking if the white color and its sparkling showing of the right ways is back, well... Yes, but in much lesser form. May it be highlighted
that this counts only the main track, the side ways are for you to be found just after the proper searching or exploring. And if we even
count that the section of the game we have played was in the very beginning, this may be even changed later in the game, the main
paths included.
COMBAT
We were equipped with the bow, axes, and we get our hands to the rifle in the near end of the demo. When checking the controls scheme,
all the weapons from Rise should make their return. The controls are almost the same as in previous games, so you will be very
soon used to it. No significant changes were made to the combat itself, Lara from the start will not take that much damage. The healing
system is similar to Rise and bandaging. In the fight, you are also able to use the Molotow or canisters without need to learn this skill
again.
SWIMMING
The underwater exploring should take a big part in Shadow, so its mechanics must have been changed significantly. You are free to
swim in any direction underwater, exactly as it was is classic titles, and Lara is able to hold her breath for quite a while, When she began
to run out of the air, you must find an air pocket. It could be tricky though, as when diving again, the perspective could be changed. The
walls and tunnels merge in together, they are barely visible, so it could be a big problem for you to find the right way. At the certain art,
we‘ve been attacked by a giant eel, we made it to the surface at the last moment. There also will be collectibles and secrets underwater
for you to find.
PUZZLES
Inside the tomb we stumbled on during our progress, included in the main storyline, we have to solve a classic puzzle, based on the
physics, as we are used in those within the Reboot trilogy. It was not that difficult to solve, but we suggest it was because this was the
very first puzzle on the way, so then it is all right. More surprisingly was the second puzzle, much more nostalgic, with rotating discs...
Lara did solve it herself during the video. Well, strange, but maybe they tried just to hide this segment before us.
COLLECTING
During our gameplay time we‘ve found few familiar things, that can be gathered—like Plants, mushrooms, salvage or other materials
crates, experience boxes etc. As a new addition, you can gather seaweeds or... Be ready... Spiders and beetles. Yap, you ARE reading
correctly, we have met the tarantula on the walk and Lara just gladly get her into her bag. I suppose their potion could be used for making
poisonous arrows.
ACTION
From that what we have seen from the videos, there will be tons of action-filled moments. This was apparent even from the demo version,
which had certain segments full of excitement and adrenaline, culminating with a grand finale. It had its impact on everyone, characters
as the same as the player. It is certain that we have a lot of to looking forward to. Especially I recall one of the scenes, nearly to
the end of our time with the game; something that is rarely seen in games and movies, so we send our congratulations to Shadow development
team they did create something like this.
THE ENVIRONMENTS AND GAME WORLD
While we played, we traveled through quite a lot of different environments. First was the small Mexican village full of celebrating people,
then we get through the cemetery to the guarded excavation site overgrown by the jungle, where the Trinity people were trying to get to
the relic. Then, we crossed the rocky cliffs above the stormy sea, the caves, underwater tunnels, the tomb itself with a Mayan pyramid,
returning to the excavation site and to the village. There were a plenty of places to explore in every single part, all crafted with highly
detailed graphics.
If I will return back to the presentation from Daniel, he spoiled to us The Lost City, which will be the biggest space hub to explore in the
trilogy—its its parts and residents are probably shown in the trailer. This was called by Daniel as „the Living History“.
