WNA Welcome continued from page 1<br />
Finally, be sure to attend our Morning Keynote and participate in WNA’s<br />
Annual Meeting on Saturday morning, October 27. During the keynote you will<br />
learn from an expert what the latest polls indicate for our upcoming elections.<br />
At WNA’s Annual Meeting, reports will be provided by the WNA President,<br />
Treasurer, and Executive Director, members will vote on Professional Policy<br />
recommendations, and election results will be announced. <strong>The</strong> Annual Meeting<br />
is also a terrific opportunity to network and see friends and colleagues.<br />
Watch for emails from WNA regarding when you can register for these events,<br />
but please mark your calendars now!<br />

Highlights from WNA Board of<br />
Directors Meeting<br />
<strong>The</strong> WNA Board of Directors met on Friday May 18, <strong>2018</strong> from 9:00 am – 3:00<br />
pm. Members joined in person at the WNA Office and virtually. Those present are<br />
as follows: President: Linda Gobis, Vice President: Beth Markham, Secretary: Julie<br />
Raaum, Treasurer: Pam Sanberg, APRN Representative: Lisa Pisney, Director-at<br />
Large: Stacy McNall, Director-at-Large: Wendy Crary, Staff <strong>Nurse</strong> Representative:<br />
Nora Grosser. WNA Staff: Gina Dennik-Champion and Megan Leadholm. Absent:<br />
Director-at-Large: Tiffany Barta.<br />
Actions/Decisions<br />
1. Ratified the WNA Executive Committee appointment for Wendy Crary (Fox<br />
Lake) to fill the WNA Board of Director position, vacated by Jaime Potopinski<br />
with term ending 12/31/18 and Nora Grosser (Milwaukee) to fill the Staff<br />
<strong>Nurse</strong> Board of Director position vacated by Nicole Faulkner with term<br />
ending 12/31/18.<br />
2. Accepted the reports submitted by President Linda Gobis, Treasurer Pam<br />
Sanberg, Vice President Beth Markham and Executive Director Gina Dennik-<br />
Champion.<br />
3. Approved the following minutes/meeting summaries: 12/18/17 WNA Board<br />
Meeting notes, 1/26/18 Leadership Summit Summary and the 3/9/19 Board<br />
Meeting Minutes.<br />
4. Approved the specific action/activities that will be taken on by the WNA<br />
Councils and the WNA Board related to the WNA 2017-2020 Strategic Goals<br />
and Objectives.<br />
5. Approved the establishment of a task force, inclusive of members of the Tri-<br />
Council, to review the evidence around mandatory continuing education for<br />
nurses as a condition of license renewal. Progress report from the task force<br />
is to be submitted at the October 26, <strong>2018</strong> WNA Board of Directors meeting<br />
at the WNA membership meeting.<br />
6. Approved the establishment of a short term ad hoc committee to evaluate<br />
member/mentor activities currently not aligned with the WNA organizational<br />
chart and make recommendations to the WNA BOD for alignment.<br />
7. Approved the WNA BOD to appoint a short term ad hoc committee to<br />
conduct a feasibility study to determine the benefits of developing an<br />
Organizational Affiliate structure modeled off of ANA. Progress to be<br />
reported at remaining <strong>2018</strong> WNA Board meeting and will be added as a<br />
discussion item for the October 26, <strong>2018</strong> WNA Dialogue Forum.<br />

WNA Advocacy Workshop’<br />
Join us on Saturday, September 29 at the Madison<br />
Concourse Hotel for a one-day workshop that will<br />
provide hands-on leadership, communication, and<br />
policy advocacy training.<br />
Plan to also attend the Friday evening,<br />
September 28, networking event –<br />
“Pulling it All Together: Sustainable Policy<br />
Advocacy Issues that Matter to <strong>Nurse</strong>s”<br />
– to be held (tentatively) at the <strong>Wisconsin</strong><br />
State Capitol.<br />
