efforts by the city have attracted interest from businesses and the general public, bringing attention to the growth and community in Mauldin. More than 500 acres around Mauldin are in consideration for annexation in the near future. In May, Mauldin approved the first reading of an ordinance to annex approximately 145 acres near West Butler Road; the site is in pre-planning stages for a mixed residential development. In early June, the city completed the annexation of approximately twelve acres on Monroe Drive, to be developed for a 155,000-square foot industrial speculative building. FUN IN THE SUN WITH BEACHIN’ FRIDAYS The Mauldin Cultural Center is making the most of the summer with Beachin’ Fridays! Attendees enjoy food trucks, beverages by Growler Haus, shag dance lessons by Jeff and Dede Ward, and live beach music every Friday night through July 6th. All shows except the finale night begin at 7PM; the finale night begins at 6:30PM and always features a special performance and fireworks. All shows are free of charge, so grab your dancing shoes and don’t miss this summer series!
