Henriëtte KAT
The Netherlands
The remarkable first album of Dutch composer Henriëtte KAT, "Violet Fire" (2006), takes your soul on a journey through a fascinating sound universe of harmony and
beauty where, like in a dream, you can feel free and full of expectations. Walk through this dream of nine instrumental compositions that cover more than 65 minutes
and actually visit this other dimension. Mother Earth and her regard of the incomprehensible Universe are a major source of inspiration for Henriëtte KAT. Listen with
earphones, leave the world outside and be thrown into ecstasies by the flames of "Violet Fire" ! The impressive second opus "Orion Symphony" (2007) is a healing
journey that makes you visit all the different chambers of your soul. The eight instrumental compositions, covering more than 60 minutes, take the listener into a
world of harmony and unity. As once Richard WAGNER said, "Music begins where the power of words stops". Surrender yourself to the expressionistic sounds of
Henriëtte KAT and wash your worries away with the energy of this Cosmic Music... "Home" (2008) is the third opus of the Dutch keyboards player. Although the
musical process is still similar, one new element is noteworthy here: vocals. Here are eight new compositions, illustrated by Henriëtte KAT's enigmatic lyrics, as
mystical in English as in German. To be discovered !
Makoto KITAYAMA
Makoto KITAYAMA is known as the singer-songwriter of the Japanese Progressive rock legend SHINGETSU. After having released only one official album at the
end of the Seventies, the group disbanded, and its leader recorded "Doubutsukai No Chinou" (1981) and "Hikaru Sazanami" (2000). The second one can be traced
in the grand Progressive rock tradition, whereas the first one is an all-instrumental album featuring Makoto KITAYAMA overdubbing various keyboards parts. Jointly
released by the Musea and Poseidon labels, "Practical Encyclopedia Of Kingdom Plantae" (2008) also belongs to that musical style. He's helped here by Takashi
HAYASHI, the leader and guitarist of QUI. It's now up to you to slip into Makoto KITAYAMA's sonic universe...
KRAKATAU
KRAKATAU is the result of long years of work by Swiss keyboards player, sound-designer and composer Alexandre BORCIC. Solitude brought this man to
inspiration, which was put into form thanks to computing means. All the sounds used on this first opus "As..." (2006) were synthesized on the occasion. Moreover,
Alexandre BORCIC is the only manager of creation and artistic production throughout this album, including the booklet illustration. Nature is his main inspiration
source: sun, clouds, rain, running or sleeping waters, wind in trees, batrachians, doves or crows singing, and so on. From a musical point of view, PINK FLOYD,
VANGELIS, DEAD CAN DANCE or ENYA are certainly well known by Alexandre BORCIC. You really should discover this !
LAREN D'OR
This keyboard player performs a synth-phony only based on keyboards. The construction, developments and movements are created by synthesisers. The result
sounds sometimes solemn, at times dark, occasionally energetic and emphatic. This "War of Angels" can be compared to the electronic and symphonic pieces by
GANDALF or TANGERINE DREAM.
Stéphane LEMAIRE
USA
Hungary
The keyboards player of the reformed MOVING GELATINE PLATES ("Removing", 2006), French musician Stéphane LEMAIRE presents his first opus, enigmatically
entitled "L'Etang De Kukufah" ("Kukufah Pond"). Released in 2007 on the Gazul label, this album includes both written and improvised orchestral music. It contains
different soundscapes where keyboards, synthesizers, tap guitar, concrete sounds, noises and voices are blended. Inspiration is definitely coming from repetitive
American music, especially the works of masters such as Philip GLASS, Steve REICH or Terry RILEY. Robert FRIPP & Brian ENO's experimentations also left a
mark here, as well as Klaus SCHULZE or Scandinavian jazz... to be discovered !
Philippe LENFANT De DAGOBERT
Electronic keyboards wizard Philippe LENFANT De DAGOBERT plays a music rooted in Progressive rock and Seventies German space rock, and of course in
classical and medieval musics. Former bass player in the French Progressive rock band DELIRIUM, the musician puts his favourite instrument aside to perform the
keyboards, that leave him more room for composition. His solo works prove both extremely serious and full of tongue-in-cheek humour, like for example the name of
the three long suites included on "Suite Mégalique Apocalyptico Foulfuitique". Recorded in 1995 on the label Musea Parallèle, this unmistakable work also benefits
from a beautiful cover by Thierry MOREAU. Not to be missed !
