CLIPPER is an interesting French line-up for different reasons. With French lyrics, "Black Jane" (1996) is more the result of the meeting of four musicians with strong
personality than an album of a young unexperienced band. Steve WILLIAM (Guitar), Frédéric GUILLEMET (Bass) and Farid MEDJANE (Drums) give us here a first
album full of American influences, strongly enhanced by a singer whose vocal style is not so common on the French scene. Famous studio bass player Bernard
PAGANOTTI (MAGMA) can be heard here on an instrumental track called "Speed World". Not to be missed !

One could say CONTINUUM is one more band in the Progressive heavy-metal genre, a musical sphere surrounded with excellent artists. But that French group has
the potentiality to go straight to the top. Like the band's musical influences, including DREAM THEATER, ANDROMEDA or PAIN OF SALVATION, CONTINUUM
composes and plays a violent and wild music, mixing aggressive riffs and rhythms with sophisticated structures and symphonic keyboards parts. It's a real pleasure
to hear the musical fights between guitars and keyboards, enhanced by a powerful and frantic drumming. First album by the band, "Lifeless Ocean" (Musea Parallèle,
2009) impresses the listener with intense and dark atmospheres, and enough power to wake the dead. Progressive heavy-metal addicts will surely be delighted !

Randy COVEN
Famous as one of the greatest bass players in the world, Randy COVEN had the possibility to express his talent next to such different people as Larry CORYELL and
Steve VAI. His style goes from jazz-rock fusion to heavy-metal, from funk to acoustic guitar. This makes him one of the most sought after session musician. His solo
works are also quite interesting, and an example of this is the latest one called "Witch Way" (2002). Recorded for the Finn label Lion Music, this album allows us to
hear a kind of music that Jaco PASTORIUS could have played! A bunch of guests participated to this project, among which we will just mention guitarists Al
PITRELLI (SAVATAGE, ASIA, MEGADETH...) and Leslie WEST (MOUNTAIN) as well as drummer John MACALUSO (Yngwie MALMSTEEN, ARK...). As for the
characteristic guitar phrasing of Scott McGILL (FINNEUS GAUGE), it makes wonders on the track "Poem". Also, we can notice a surprising instrumental cover of
THE DOORS' "Riders on the Storm". A jewel of jazz-rock fusion...
