Luigi CINQUE & TARANTULA HYPERTEXT ORCHESTRA
Luigi CINQUE was none other than the saxophonist of Italian Progressive folk-rock group CANZONIERE DEL LAZIO in the Seventies. He is now making an elegant
mix of world music with many guest artists, such as trumpetist Paolo FRESU, Djivan GASPARYAN, etc... "Tangerine cafe" is now a bestseller on both Latin and
world music markets.
Johnny CUNNINGHAM
This superb CD with a nice packaging that includes a detailed booklet, was issued by the Scottish violinist Johnny CUNNINGHAM. "Peter And Wendy", at first a
theatre play that was given several Oscars, shows the Peter PAN story in a Celtic context. The music is in the style of Celtic soundtracks such as "Patriot Games"
and especially "Braveheart". The themes also evoke Loreena McKENNITT due to the use of the Celtic harp and to the ethereal and fragile melodies. However, the
themes also sometimes have a British folk-rock touch that reminds of FAIRPORT CONVENTION. The album is based on beautiful melodies with very British vocal
harmonies (calm and emphatic, half-sung....) and on instruments such as bodhran, tin whistles, accordion, harp, mandolin, violin, guitar, vocals, both masculine and
feminine...
