international scene. Both the technical quality and the instrumental mastery of the musicians make this ten-track album a real gem of Progressive heavy-metal
music. Compositions prove to be carefully made, tonic and accurate, showing obvious symphonic trends. They owe quite much to the keyboards parts of the brilliant

ASHES TO ASHES was created in 1992 around guitarist Michael STERNBERG, bassist Björn LUNA and drummer Kristian JOHANSEN. After various demos and a
growing success in their homeland, those Nowegians hired the singer Kenneth BRASTAD and recorded a self-financed album destined solely to promotion in 1999.
However, following the public's enthusiasm, it is now the fourth re-issue of this album "Shapes of Spirit"! After the drummer left, two musicians participated to replace
him during the "Cardinal VII" sessions. Recorded in 2002 on the label DVS Records, this album is more direct than their first one. Its main topic is the Seven Deadly
Sins. The title "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi" can give us a good image of the general ambience, being qualified by the group themselves as doom blended with classical
music and Gregorian singing. Not at all opposed, heavy-metal dark and heavy ambiences blend successfully with some classic inspiration. A true jewel that you have
to discover!
