FIREWORKS FINALE MARKS END OF BEACHIN’ FRIDAYS Amphitheater to enjoy classic beach tunes and performances by a different band each week, and to participate in free shag dance lessons by Jeff and Dede Ward. July 6th’s show marked the end of the third year of concerts. Photos from the events can be found on the Mauldin Cultural Center’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
FIREFIGHTERS RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING BRAVERY AND SERVICE On June 18th, Mauldin City Council recognized three groups of Mauldin firefighters for lifesaving resuscitation efforts that occurred over the past year. Each recipient was presented a certificate and a pin. Statistically in cardiac arrest situations, a patient may end up with permanent physical deficits or may not survive. The qualifying significance of this award is that each patient not only survived cardiac arrest but was also discharged from the hospital under their own power with zero physical or neurological defects. Mauldin personnel were part of three such events last year. On January 26, 2017, firefighters involved included Russel Anderson, Thomas Guthzeit, Jack Sweeney, Glen Guy, Eric Lutz, and Andy McAbee. On March 11, 2017, personnel involved were Brandon Cromer, Kevin Gainey, Charles Harris, Brian McHone, Tim Reardon, and Mike Taylor. And on October 14, 2017, those involved were Jason Banks, Charles Harris, Tommy Holsonback, Anthony Horton, and Kyle Strickland. Mauldin firefighters were also recognized for outstanding service at the SC Firefighters Association’s annual conference. Lt. Jeff Nix and Lt. Jacob Looney were awarded the Meritorious Action Award for rescuing a citizen from a house fire on May 23, 2017 on Hickory Lane. SC Firefighters Association receives nominations from all over the state for acts of bravery for lifesaving in their respective response areas. The selection committee reviews all submittals and selects the top two or three incidents to be awarded that year. THANK YOU!
