Excited children
welcome
visitors to the
communities.
that opens ones eyes to all the forest has to offer –
from medicinal plants to leaves used to build houses.
The amazing and profound connection to nature that
comes with moments like these is often forgotten in the
comfort and speed of city life, but if we don’t remember
to pause and reconnect, what happens to our primal
essence?
NATURAL CONNECTION
The people of the Amazon wake up as the sun rises, and
go to sleep as it sets. They take their machetes and work
in the agricultural fields, board their peque-peques for a
fishing excursion, or head to town to sell their products.
Rural houses in these areas do not have windows or
doors, food is prepared in outdoor ‘kitchens’, and children
play freely amongst the trees in their ‘backyards’. Is there
any better way to imagine a true connection with nature?
To board the Amazon Star is to escape one’s routine. It
provides the chance to penetrate both the jungle and
the inner-self in search of that natural instinct each one
of us contains. The instinct that allows us to be able to
recognize animals, to really enjoy a sunset, to locate
the Southern Cross within the starry skies, and to learn
about the ways of living and culture of the 25 thousand
Peruvians that call Pacaya Samiria home.
The community of Puerto Prado, which consists of roughly
60 inhabitants, works every day towards the conservation
