Machu Picchu was chosen as the winner of the
‘Travel Dreams Tournament’ organized by the
Virtuoso Network, leaders in luxury travel, a group
that LimaTours has been a part of for over 20
years. The Inca citadel won, thanks to a public poll,
beating other coveted world-destinations like, the
Swiss Alps, Greece, New Zealand, Tuscany, Hawaii,
Paris, Mexico, and London.

NAZCA
Peru will participate in the Dakar Rally for
the second consecutive year. This is how
the organizers of this important race have
announced the news, without further details as
to what legs will take place in Peru, or which other
countries will participate in the 2019 edition. It will
be Peru’s fourth time taking part in Dakar: the first
time was in 2012, the second in 2013, and the
third in 2018. This year, six legs of the race were
held in the Peruvian desert, taking participants
through the cities of Pisco, San Juan de Marcona,
and Arequipa.

Scientists have discovered over 50 geoglyphs on
hillsides within the Palpa province in Nazca. These
drawings were made with such fine lines, that they
have been overlooked by researchers for years, and
are just now being uncovered with the help of drones.
While conservations and studies are just beginning,
experts speculate that these drawings were not, in fact,
made by the people of the Nazca culture, rather, by
members of the Paracas Culture. This suggests that
the creation of geoglyphs was an inherited custom.
