Successful BDIZ EDI continuing-education week in Belek/Antalya
4 th Mediterranean Symposium:
See Turkey and Learn Something
The BDIZ EDI Mediterranean Symposium has become a small but highly appreciated event for implant dentists in Europe offering
top-notch training under the auspices of the association – and that far beyond Germany’s borders. Following Montenegro (2007),
Crete (2008) and Vouliagméni (2009), this year’s one-week BDIZ EDI continuing-education event was held in May under the
motto of “Avoiding Treatment Errors – Managing Complications” on the “Turkish Riviera” at Belek.
Twelve speakers and fourteen presentations on a
single day left little time to enjoy the sun, the
beach and the sea, the international golf courses
or the comfort of a luxury hotel built in the style of
a Moorish castle. Nevertheless, neither the Turkish
nor the German attendees felt they were missing
anything – the one-day symposium and workshops,
interpreted simultaneously, simply had too

much to offer. The two scientific directors of the
continuing-education week, Prof Joachim E. Zöller
(Cologne) and Prof Hakan Özyuvaci (Istanbul), had
fine-tuned the programme together, arriving at a
delicate composition of topics focusing on complications
in oral implantology, including restorative
issues and sidelines such as mathematics or
anaesthesia.
