Athletic Aesthetic Landon Donovan dishes on his Style & Success BY BRYCE GRUBER Landon Donovan is the U.S. Men’s National Team all-time leading scorer and assists leader, and his successes and effortless style are unmatched both on the field and off — which is exactly why Neutrogena selected him to be its brand ambassador. “Everything I do I try to do to the best of my ability,” Landon says. “For me, I don’t waste time doing things that I am not going to do my best in, so even being part of the #RespectYourFace campaign for Neutrogena Men embodies everything I believe in my life.” Donovan was a 2009 Major League Soccer MVP and 6-time MLS Cup champion, and he lived the dream of boys and men around the world by playing in three World Cups. “When I was playing it was simple,” he explains. “I just did what I had to do to make myself the best. Now that I am retired and have stopped playing professionally, there’s all sorts of fun and exciting things that I get to try and learn, and get to experience. So no matter what it is, I just do it to the best of my ability. I am learning to play tennis. I play against my wife, who kills me every time. I’m also trying my hand at golf. Most important, I am just enjoying being present in my daily life, being a good husband and a better brother and son because I have been away from my family for so many years just based on my professional soccer schedule; these are important things I get to focus on now.” And it doesn’t end there: When he’s not spending time with his family or taking up new sports, Donovan is dishing on improving men’s appearances, style and overall well-being. 14 • <strong>FALL</strong>/WINTER
